Yes, changing the oil will help, however, you will also have to clear the "change oil" light. Either figure out what buttons to press to delete that, or go to an auto parts store and ask if they can help you reset it.
Question is contradictory. First you say won't shift out of first gear, then you say won't shift pst second. If the latter is correct, yes could be the 3-4 shift solenoid has failed.
This is bad. The first question that i have to ask is did you time the engine before changing the belt? That being asked and assuming that your answer is a yes. Did the belt break or are you changing this out because of maintenance?
hi from uk could you please verify ? you intend to diy cambelt change ? also has belt been removed already ? or has belt failed/broken ? the belt change is not too difficult to change/renew and is advisable to renew belt and tensioner and the water pump too as it is driven by c/belt to eliminate having to strip down again in near future due to possible pump faiure/leaking ? belt replacement is approx120'000miles or 8 years service ? however if belt has failed ?? then as this engine is what is known as interferance this means there will be piston/s to valves contact resulting in possible valves damage/bent ? the renewal of c/belt etc should take approx 3 hrs if you are confident/tooled and would save $$$$
