On the astro vans they used a hydroboost power brake booster which is driven off the power sterring pump. If you are having brake and steering problems you should check to make sure your belt is still on if it is you probably need a new powersteering pump. You may also check your power sterring pump pulley.if this helps please rate

2006 Mazda Tribute vacuum problem

Put the plugged hose back on. You didn't say anything about having problems before you changed the hose. Was it plugged when you got the car or did it plug up afterwards? If it was plugged before you got the car, perhaps it was plugged for a reason?

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. What is wrong with my steering wheel?

That is strange because they are unrelated.

The power steering works using a pump that has a pulley and is turned by the Serpentine belt. Where you put the fluid, did it look like this?

The Brake Master Cylinder has a similar reservoir and also has a brake booster that uses vacuum power from the engine to give you a mechanical advantage. Both are shown here

95 All wheel drive Blazer It's hard steer , re-end locking. nd locking up and alost seems like the br. What would cause all this?

Start with the rear. Most likely a brake problem. 2 things to look at. First the emergency brake cable. Make sure the cable is kind of loose. If not it is locked/rusted and applying the brake. Gets worse as you drive. Cut them close to the brake or replace them. Next is the rear brake hose/s. To check this, if the brakes are tight, release one of the brake bleeder valves. If it releases the brakes, replace the hose. Hard steering could be the power steering pump or gear box, or bad ball joints. This you'll have to look at the steering linkage. Ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm. Any of these look really rusty at the connection. Could be a problem. Look at the steering shaft also. There is a u joint that rusts up and will cause hard spots when turning. Gear boxs usually get sloppy. Power steering pumps start to whine when going bad.

Find out what is causing noise from full steering lock on right and left , from stationery positon

Depends on what the noise sounds like. Some noise can be normal if you are holding the steering wheel at full lock . That is the pressure from the pump pushing hydraulic fluid through the steering box. If it is usually loud at the slightest turn..could be bad steering pump , leaking hose, leaking seal at steering box, even a bad belt.

Hello , I have a 2002 Buick Century (custom) and I'm experiencing steering wheel problems. My car started up as usual (but I didn't give it time to warm up) as I started to drive , I had to turn left. As...

have the battery tested as sounds like a complete electrical failure at best , if battery ok then i'd check the timing belt hasn't broken , if this is ok then the drive belts for the steering , alternator etc , this really needs to been seen to give a specific diagnosis , get a mechanic for an hour and get a diagnosis and quote , hope this is of help

Ive got a bmw318 and sometimes the steering wheel shakes bad when im driving and then stops what can it be

If it shakes when driving at certains speeds, then it is likely that you have a wheel that is bent or you lost a wheel weight. If the shaking happens more when you step on the brakes, then you could have a warped brake rotor. You can ususally tell if its the brake rotor given that hte car will sort of pulse when you push hard on the brakes.

Ignition switch will not turn on. Battery is good. Steering wheel is locked, What should we do?

Quite often that will happen when vehicle parked with wheels turned, and/or vehicle on a slope, so try to avoid that in future. If nothing else, when parked on a slope, stop, keep foot on brake pedal, apply parking brake, put transmission in neutral, then take foot off brake pedal and wait for parking brake to stop vehicle rolling, then shift it into park. When leaving, put foot on brake pedal, shift to drive or reverse whatever direction your going, then release parking brake. Sounds like a lot to remember but you won't have to pull hard on shifter as before, and it could save a lot of money on transmission repairs down the road. Always try to park with wheels straight as well.
Now, with that said, if you parked with wheels turned, try hard to turn steering wheel in same direction wheels are turning, just slightly, as you try to turn key. Sometimes a quick yank in that direction will do it. Also make sure shifter is all the way in park before you try it. If your on a slope try rocking vehicle slightly up slope as you push/pull shift lever in to park and try to turn key at same time. If no luck, try pushing brake pedal real hard and try to turn key. Let me know how it goes.

Key will not turn ,to start engine

Hello, this common situation arises when the steering lock mechanism binds, usually because the wheels are jammed against the curb. And to solve this problem try to follow this steps.

1. Make sure the transmission is in park(for cars with automatic transmission )

2. Set the parking brake to prevent the car from rolling farther against the curb.

3. Pull hard on the steering wheel while turning it in both directions, if this doesn't free the wheel move to step 4.

4. Release the parking brake and put the transmission in neutral, let up on the foot pedal just enough to rock the car slightly.

5. Turn the steering wheel again. The key should turn now.

Thanks
