You can run a quick scan with scan tool like ELM327.
Also check if your CEM connectors are OK:

SOURCE: 2001 volvo s60 t5 - performance reduced warning message, limp mode activated

I had exactly the same problem on my UK 2001 S60.
It was caused by the throttle control housing gaskets not being serviced properly and consequently the entire housing had to be replaced - not a cheap job -and a valuable lesson learned - use a reputable volvo specialist to service your volvo - I didn't and I learnt the hard why! only a volvo specilaist would have known about this I went to several other main street garages & none of them could even diagnose the problem let alone fix it. Although they did do numerous other things first before they gave up - ie replaced titanium spark plugs.
Before it stoppped running altogther and went into "limp home mode" there were tell-tale engine/throttle surges when the car was idle, but in gear.
It is now running "like new" & I will never get another garage to service it, as this could have been avoided - however they can also wear out after about 10years - so my bad services just made it happen sooner!
I hope this helps!

SOURCE: Same thing in S60R. What would be the main reasons

You need to get it to a dealer to have a proper diagnostic check carried out on the car.
This warning message could reflect a problem with the engine management system or other issues. The engine sensors, especially the oxygen sensors, are prone to failure on these vehicles and this may prove to be the source of the problem (or it may be another issue).

You have not indicated if there were any problems with the operation of the car before, at or after the occasion the warning appeared.

Until a proper diagnosis is done on your car the actual cause of the message is largely a guess.

If you keep the car bear in mind that these S60s do not have a good reliability record once you clock up a few years and miles. They are also relatively expensive to repair when failures occur.

What is wrong with my 2015 Ford Kuta diesel?

Way to many things to guess at on these. Best to have the codes read. Most every thing on the engine and transmission will cause it to go to reduced power. Then start turn on other s lights, like stability.

What causes the "Reduced Engine Power", "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" warning lights to come on?

the "Reduced Engine Power", problem causes the PCM to disable "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" turning on the warning lights to come on for those systems . The reduced engine power is because of a problem with the electronic throttle control system or as GM calls it TAC system . Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a condition with the TAC system, the PCM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
• Acceleration limiting--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited throttle mode--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle default mode--The PCM will turn OFF the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
• Forced idle mode--The PCM will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the TP, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned OFF.
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
• Engine shutdown mode--The PCM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

Reduced engine power

Have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! Do you know what electronic throttle control is ? The gas pedal assembly has electrical connector an sensors inside ,hooked to the PCM / ECM - engine computer . The engine computer uses these position sensors inputs to control the DC motor on the throttle body to open the throttle plate to control the speed . Plus there are position sensors inside the throttle body to input PCM/ECM to see if it's calculations are corect . Your best bet maybe to take it to a qualified repair shop .

Reduced Engine Power and then died

If it does it again go to a auto parts stor and ask them to put the scan tool on it and get the codes pulled. Write them down and post them on here. You may be able to get codes now. It probably stored the codes in the cars computer.

Engine light on, on my gmc 2003 youkon

{: ) An engine light illuminates on the cluster when there is fault on your engine emission systems. There are so many possible causes for this that's why a scan tool diagnostic reading is usually suggested. Normally when the engine light is on, even for a moment, a code is set by the Powertrain control module and store it into its memory. A scan tool is very effective in decoding, tracing and isolating a number of possible causes, thereby reducing the amount of time doing some guessing approaches to fix the problem.
Everytime you see an engine light on, make some careful observations on the performance of your vehicle. The most consistent and noticeable could be related to the warning indicator.

check fuel filter.
Fuel Filter
The fuel filter should be replaced regularly. Its performance is reduced by dirt and water collected over an extended period of use.
Replace as required.
