I have heard of the clutch fan being an issue before, but it almost sounds like it's out of timing some how! Also, check your alternater. when gone bad, they tend to do weird thing to the vehicle! (bad diodes)

Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. you will see a small black cap like you find on a tire. unscrew it and you should see a pin in the middle and the valve will look exactly like the valve on a tire where you put air in. take a small nail or key or something and gently push the pin down while the key is in the on postion.BE CAREFUL AS GAS WILL SHOOT OUT OF THE VALVE!! Make sure you listen close if air comes out with the gas.Keep holding pin down til all air is out and only gas is shooting out. this should solve your problem if not try again and if you have more air in fuel line then you have a leak in fuel line

SOURCE: 2002 GMC Envoy is having

I ran into this concern with my 2002 and my wife ran into the almost identical problem with her 2003. this may sound silly,, but it was the clutch fan. Extreme loss of power from time to time came first. Then a roar of the what seemed like the engine when stopping. Actually cut off after it started to roar at highway speeds, and had absolutely no excelleration from time to time. Sometimes all of the symptoms completely went away. After taking mine to the dealer several times, finally they got it right and replaced the fan clutch. When my wifes 2003 SLt started doing the exact same thing as my 2002 had done, we both knew what the problem was, and the dealer did a quick fix. $600.00. Perhaps this should have been a recall feature, but never was. Everyone that I know that has an envoy, somewhere around the 72,000 and 103,000 mile mark has had this problem and have had to have the clutch fan replaced. It may sound like the vehicle is going to have to be junked,, but that is all it needs.

SOURCE: my 2004 gmc envoy stalls when sitting at the light

premium gas is a waste of money. domestically produced and sold cars are actually calibrated for econo gas. well, based on what you told me and the type of vehicle, i'd invest in some well-needed maintainence (COMPLETE tune up with AC Delco platinum plugs, fuel filter, air filter, pcv, cap and rotor) don't skimp on cap quality either- told ya -they're problem-prone. BUT with the "check gauges" light coming on, my bet is you're experiencing the warning signs of imminent fuel pump failure. gas gauge been bouncing or not reading accurately?

SOURCE: 2004 GMC Envoy Idling high

sounds like the throttle plate is stuck try cleaning is out do not push on the throttle plate will damage it. have some one sit in the vehicle with their foot on the pedal take a tooth brush and some carb cleaner clean both side of the plate and inside the housing the best you can and see if the stops it.

SOURCE: 06 envoy has a low idle while car is running but

First check the air filter for restrictions.
Second try cleaning the throttle body. It will build up a carbon deposit around the throttle plate.
Third you may consider having the pcm program updated. The program does have changes for various things including the fan clutch. It can stay engaged.

SOURCE: 2006 Envoy stalling when idels and won't stay running

Clean your Throttle body and pay attention to the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve passageway to try to clean the IAC. A dirty or faulty IAC will cause your engine to stall at idle, the job of the IAC is to open the passage way through the throttle body to regulate the amount of air to enter the engine to keep it from stalling when the Envoy is at idle.

Start with the simple and clean the throttle body and inspect any loose or damaged wire leads to the throttle body. Replace or repair any signs of damage.

Thank you for using Fixya and good luck.

99 Honda CRV, Irratic idle and shifting hard after rpms reach around 3500.

A/T hard shifts. well if RPM is way too high ,then that is NORMAL.
it's the RPM wrong.
my joke, is sell car to Toyota, they need 1 more lawsuit.
joking aside, this car has EFI (electronic fuel injection , system)
and in all EFI cars, the ECU/PCM controls idle at all times.
this is called IAC or ISC, idle speed controls and the devices.

if the idle is out of control it can be because. (yours is)
1: air leaks ( vacuum) in the intake systems and plenum.
2: bad or dirty IAC or ISC. (clean them and test them)
3: if car has DIZZY (old) someone set the timing way off.
distributor. cars. and some early CMP cam angle sensor cars.

also, the ECU can in fact lose idle controls while in limphome mode. so is the CEL off running?
if not ,? scan the ECU for all DTCs codes and post them and get help.

CEL = check engine lamp, RTM , read the op guide.

My 2003 gmc envoy has p0303 error code. I have since changed the plugs but the code is still there. What else should I look at before changing the expensive coil on cylinder 3?

To find out if it is the coil pack, swap #3 pack with another cylinder and see if the fault changes. If not, you should check the compression on cylinder #3. If that is OK, I would suspect a bad injector.

While engine is running, wiggle the little wires on the altenator while someone checks to see if light comes on. Hopefully this is the case. these wires break over time due to vibration. The insulation stays connected but the wire inside is broken but still touching, untill they are shook. The plug is about 12 dollars, or you can just splice where it is broken.
The rough idle could be the idle air motor by the throttle. It has two wires and is cylinder shaped. They are about 45 dollars.

If it runs fine and the idle is the only problem you could try idling it up some with the idle set screw on the throttle body it sounds like it may be a little bit out of time those toyotas have a fine lins on the timing.

1991 Camry with 2.0 L, 4 cylinder. When it is warm

Early 90's had a thing called Idle Stabilizer valve. It should sit on the top of the motor, some models had it sitting on the side of motor.Anyway this part is about 4-5 inches long, abou 1-1.5 in diametar and it has vacuum hoses connection and electrical conection.I'n most cases, the diaphragm could be dirty, thus restrictin internal part to slide back and forward. If you are handy, locate the ISV and remove it.Use some brake parts cleaner( can use up to 1 can) and clean it good. When cleaned spray, just a spritz of of WD40 on each opening and reinstall it.If problem still persist, you will have to purchase a new one that will run you about $200-325 buck.Hope I could help.

Idle irratic

Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
