Rear Brake Lights not working (Hyundai Atos Prime GLS 2007)

Rear brake lights seem to have gone at the same time - inspected bulbs and all seems fine. Tail brake light is still working without a problem. Checked all fuses inside car under dashboard and under bonnet near engine. What else can I troubleshoot

Could be a bad ground on the light socket or try to buy 1 bulb to see if it works because there is actullay 2 lights in each bulb one for brakes and one for tail light

I will check the electricity with a voltage meter thanks.

What is strange that there is 4 lightbulbs of which all the brake light elements are not working but the rear lights (when lights is switched on) is all working.

IN ADDITION the brake light in the tail fin thing on the boot is also working fine (I would think that any electricity/fuses/switches will serve both the normal brake lights as well as the tail fin brake light at the same time?)

I see this is old, but for you or others: this sounds like it is the switch that is faulty. As someone already said, it is located at the brake pedal.

Wel i have a hyundai atos prime 1.1 and my brake lights doesnt work at all, i have checked the fuses and replace them but still dont work, i have checked underneath the dash where the brake light switch is but i have notice that there is a metal in between the lever and switch, i havent fixed the problem yet because doesnt know how to, that metal you can move up or down i dont know if it is supose to move up or down, but when i move it in the right angle where the switch is then it works when i brake, but if i brake to much the metal moves either up or down away from the switch, does anyone know if that mettal must move or not, and how do i fix this problem

SOURCE: Left rear brake light stopped working but bulb and fuses are OK.

take the bulb back out have someone sit in car apply brake get your self a circuit tester and check to see if this circuit is carrying efficient 12 volt current! some times in cold weather these bulbs get hot with long period of breaking and when released condensate and rust begins and you get what you have perhaps bad socket! this would be a ideal location to begin and probably end,

SOURCE: Tail lights / Brake lights

i was having a similar problem with my 2000 SL. when the taillights would go, so would the cruise control. and through many bulb and fuse replacements, i finally went into a saturn dealership and they did a recall campaign on it. they did their thing and i havnt had any problems since. FREE!

SOURCE: Right brake light out; tail light works fine

most rear tail lights and turn/stop lights are the same dual filiment bulb. it is possible for your tail light to work and your brake light not to and still have a bad bulb. I would check the bulb first, your brake light works on the left yes? this would mean that the fuse is fine

SOURCE: brake lights don't work

This sounds like a bad brake light switch, this switch is located on the bracket that holds brake pedal, you can test for power at switch, also if you remove connector and jump terminals with a wire and see if lights lite, if lights light then switch is bad,

If you have not found the problem yet, check the transmission interlock. Sounds like the shifter interlock switch may not be engaging to allow the starter to activate!

My driver and passenger side brake lights are not working but the center brake light on the rear door works fine. The fuses and bulbs seem to be fine. Any ideas?

I would try changing the bulbs even if they seem fine. Usually when bulbs burn out both sides go at the same time.

2006 Sonata brake lights don't work except rear deck light.

Check the connection at the brake light switch for power comming out to the barke lights, try feeding power to the brake lights manualy using a jumper wire from your fuse box or battery, unplug the wire from the switch and put power to the harness if everything is OK the brake lights will work, then you need a new switch.

Brake lights won't go off

learned to trouble shoot this in school, it might be that your lights and or switch are backwards, that was usually the case we discovered to be the culprit, and be sure you have the right bulbs and not some random generic compatible with these model cars, those bulbs will not be compatible with the current going thru them, if this does not help, you might want to try to reinstall the original components to back track your work, unfortunetlly electronics on cars is very time consuming as we learned in class.....hope this works or helps you...shia

Have ypu checked the fuses under the dash? These are located under a removal panel above the brake pedal.
