SOURCE: 2006 VW tdi black smoke while accelerating

I have the same problem. Do you have a DSG transmission? There are complaints on VW clubs about this problem. It seemed like an engine control issue but it is actually a confused transmission in my case. It seems to have trouble engaging and must send a signal to the engine to kill power. Recalibrating the transmission with VAG-COM made the problem go from a 3x daily issue to a weekly one. I have read that the DSG is very sensitive to oil levels. I am going to set mine properly and see if it helps. The calibration/adaptation only takes 10 minutes with VAG-COM

SOURCE: lack of power

Turbo failure is never normally intermittant so I doubt it is a turbo fault.

The wastegate relys on a signal from the ECU via the MAFS.

Mass Air Flow Sensors are very common to fail on VW TDi and this also fits in with your symptoms.

Kind regards

Car running smooth for 6 straight hours, when it suddenly lost all power, started to smoke heavily white smoke. Not possible to reach 3000 rpm, even in neutral and with gas pedal to the floor.

Dense white smoke often indicates coolant in the exhaust. Check for water in the crankcase by inspecting oil on dipstick. Milky coloring indicates water. Check the coolant reservoir, or under radiator cap (wait until engine is cooled down!), for oil in cooling system. If you see evidence of either water in oil or oil in coolant, you may have a blown head gasket, or a cracked cylinder head or block.

What is the gap on sparkplugs for a 2001 2.0 vw jetta

7mm. Wrong gap can cause misfire which could result in black smoke. However, the cat converter should be taking care of that

I have a little oil leak from the glow plug harness on my vw t5 1.9 tdi 2007, what could this be?

A fuel leak from your injector possibly. Or your rings are worn, but you would see black/blue smoke from exhaust.

White smoke and burning smell when vw t5 is warming up

I have this same problem although it seems intermittent, I've heard it's a diesel leak on the fuel return pipes and causes the white smoke to come out of the engine bay and a strong parrafin smell. I haven't found out for sure what this is, have a mechanic coming to look at it this week finders crossed!
