Just follow the pattern as it is under the hood. If you have to, draw a diagram to help you along the way.

Need a wiring diagram for spark plugs for a 1995 jeep Cherokee sport

V6 engine: firing order: 1 2 3 4 5 6, distributor rotates clockwise. Left bank of engine (driver's side), cylinders 2, 4, 6 (#2 at front of engine). Right bank: 1, 3, 5 (#1 at front of engine).
Inline 6 engine: firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. Distributor rotates clockwise.
The number one tower on the dist. cap should have a mark or numeral 1 on it. If not, turn crankshaft to top dead center of compression stroke on number one cylinder, the 0 degrees or "T" mark on the crank pulley pointer. If you are on the compression stroke (not the exhaust stroke), the rotor under the dist. cap will be pointing to the number one cylinder spark plug wire tower.

Spark plug wire position on distributor cap

1-5-3-6-2-4
ALL Jeep 4.0 motors use this firing order. Any year, any model, high output or not.

Also, the spark plug wire placement on the cap, in a clockwise direction from the post nearest the engine block is: 6-2-4-1-5-3.(to the left side of the number 6 post, there should be a hold downscrew or strap for fastening the distributor cap to the distributor.

Order of spark plug wires

You didn't specify 2wd or 4wd, but it won't matter as it turns out they are the same. The firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. To see a diagram go to http://autorepair.about.com/library/firing_orders/bl-fo-4771.htm

Causes for no spark on 94 jeep cherokee please

Well it could be many things, But have you relpaced the dist. cap and rotor, within the last 15,000 miles or wires and plugs??? next step is the coil ? then it gets fun. like timing. but I think most jeeps with a Inline 6 have a bullet proof engine for the most part. As we all know there is plenty of semi's on the road. well the same set up is there. as an Inline Jeep. I would have to say 90% of semi's on the road are inline 6 cyl. engines. and may of them go to 1million miles.
so plugs, wires, cap, rotor and ignition coil. that is a good starting point.

Spark plugs

Firing order for the 4.0L 6-cylinder is as follows:

1-5-3-6-2-4

As for the spark plugs, it looks like the Autolite AL 985 plugs are what you need. If you are going to replace the plugs, might as well also replace the plug wires, the distributor cap and rotor (if you have those, I dont recall which year they went to the distributorless ignition).

We have replaced all the spark plugs in our 1991 jeep cherokee but dont have the diagram of what plug wire goes where. Can you help me?

Which motor i-6 or v8?
look on the intake for firing order if it's the inline 6 from front to back they are numbers in order 1-6,using the timing marks set the engine at 0degrees on compression stroke and number 1 plug wire will be directly above where the rotor button is at I think the firing order is 135624 from number 1 on cap and going clockwise put the plug wires on the cap to the plugs in that order.

Need diagram for 1998 Jeep Cherokee sport spark plug wiring

hi, you didn't say what engine you have, I'll assume it's the 4.0 L in line 6 cylinder. Standing on the PASSENGER side of the jeep, the spark plug at the front of the engine is #1, the next is #2, and so on to #6 which is at the back (nearest the windshield).
The distributor is between you and the valve cover on the engine. Pretend the top of the distributor cap is the face of a clock.
The #1 spark plug wire goes in the cap at what would be the 6 o'clock position, (as viewed from your position standing on the passenger side, facing the side of the engine). The firing order direction is clockwise, so the 'hand' of the clock (actually the rotor in the cap) would continue to the next distributor cap plug in, which would be spark plug wire to #5 (8 o'clock position), then #3 (10 o'clock position), #6 (12 o'clock position), #2 (2 o'clock position), #4 (4 o'clock position). So all this means isi your firing order is, 1,5,3,6,2,4 If you have a different motor or any questions, let me know. Good Luck! countrycurt0

Firing order

The 4.0 inline 6 cylinder spark plugs are numbered from front of the vehicle to the back 1,2,3,4,5,6
The firing order is 1,5,3,6,2,4. As u stand on the passenger side of the Jeep, facing the engine, look for the distributor cap hold down screw closest to u. The 1st dist. cap plug wire to the left of that screw, is #1. Continue clockwise from there, 5,3,`6,2,4. countrycurt0
