MPV will not start, it does not turn over. Replaced battery per recommendation from a mechanic that just completed a front end alignment. He advised he had to jump start the vehicle to get it started when it was in the shop. He did not tell us this until we had problems starting the vehicle two days later. It appears the battery is fine, lights are bright and dash lights come on when turning to key in the ignition. Lights do not go dim when turning the key on. It appears as if no power is getting to the starter. Previous owner advised he had the same problem, and when he took it into the shop they replaced a chip in the distributor. Do you have any recommendations?
It sound like you need a new starter. I am not not sure why they serviced the distributor, but you mentioned the engine doesn't turn over. The only other thing could be a bad neutral safety switch or ignition switch. Have someone check the "signal" wire to the starter for switched power( power when you turn the key to start position). If power is present, I'd replace the starter. If not, check Ign. switch or neutral safety switch. I hope this helps
