Interior dome lights, lights in the cabin, and lights in the boot all used to come on when i unlocked the Sante Fe with the remote before i got in to start it. Now, when i unlock from the outside using the remote, nothing. Open the hatch to the boot also and the light back there doesn't come on either.

if it was me i would be stopping by a Hyundai dealership and talk with the service manger because it sound as if its a sensor that is bad and you may get it cover under some kind of warranty a manger can do this i know i was a service writer at a Hyundai dealership years ago wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

It sounds like the dome light circuit is not properly grounded. and when you open the door, the power is feeding back through the interior light, some ground got disconnected.
