I bet he put HHO generator on his car, when water entering your engine, it will screw your valves. See, I told you don't believe the ******** of those Hydrogen on demand. If your hydrogen cell went above 130 degree, then its water vapor will get sucked into the engine even if you think no such thing. Do your home work, test outside the car and you will see how much water can hurt your car.

Well, I hate to inform you of this, but all Nissan engines except the V-6 that was used in the Quest mini-van up to 2003 are interference engines- meaning that if a valve is fully open and the corresponding piston travels to Top Dead Center (TDC), they will contact forcefully resulting in a bent valve.

I have seen this many times as most people don't want to spend the $500 to have their timing belt replaced.

Fortunately for you, Nissan cylinder head castings are built pretty strong. I have pulled the cylinder heads and replaced bent valves (be sure to "lap them in" with a good valve lapping compound) and reassembled the engines with fantastic results. Most engines have broken valve guides and valves and pistons, but Nissans typically don't break these things.

This is a very involved job and should not be attempted unless you have pretty extensive experience with the internal combustion engine, so I would recommend a trusted mechanic or, ultimately, your local dealer.

Depending on labor rate, you're looking in the ball park of $1500 for this repair.

I hope this has been helpful!!

I've just changed the head gasket on my 2000 xterra...v6 ..at first try it started right up..the problem i'm having is it does not idle its putters and than shuts down. I check all the hoses and wiring...

It sounds like you have an air leak on the intake manifold. If it runs ok at high idle(no Missing put your hand over the exhaust pipe to check for the miss) then intake leak is high suspect.

2000 chevy siverado 6 cyl 2wd auto

So the truck is siting in I 95? Is the trans fluid level correct? What is the color of the fluid, does it smell burnt and have a burned appearance?

The fluid must be low as it is improbable that burned out alll of the clutches at once or the primary pump completly, Have the trans fluid and filter changed and see what happens.

Has the truck ever stopped running after high speed before? I do not think the two problems should be conncected. When it stopped, did it dies likethe key was shut off or did t just loose more and more power?

Good Luck

XTERRA 2002 SUV STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING, AND THE WHEEL LOCKS UP, CAN'T TURN THE WHEELS. ALSO, STOPS RUNNING WHEN SLOWING DOWN. THIS IS A FRIGHTENING SITUATION. PLEASE HELP.

Check for a loose wire around the ignition. Also the ground wire from the engine to the body. The steering should not actually lock up, but will be very hard to turn when the engine stops. I assume it idles and starts fine?? But it shouldn't! Frankster016
