Hello Beau Hunter,
According to the FREE circuit drawings (real ones) I am
going over... If, if & if.. (BBB Industries website):
BBB Industries Premium Alternators Starters Power Steering Products
No Switch change-out has been done
No wiring has been repaired (or rerouted) ... &
No new "relays" recently replaced (or swapped)...
What you are describing COULD NOT be happening...
And were that the FINAL ANSWER... I would not
have enjoyed lucrative & interesting careers in
maintenance, repair & restoration...
So barring the recent introduction of a
HUMAN ERROR (described above) you are going
to be looking for damage or wear. The GM "exterior lights"
drawing is difficult to follow... but if you take it by EACH
FUNCTION and trace it back to your light switch...
You are likely going to find the issue near, at or on
THAT light switch...
TWO wrong things have to be happening and the
switch does indeed seem to provide "dome light"
POWER in the "OFF" position.
I would recommend starting with those "TAIL LIGHTS".
A TONE TRACER is ideally suited to this type of
trouble shooting... keeping in mind... to properly
verify "A WIRE" ... it needs to be ISOLATED
(BULB or connector open out at far end...
connector open at switch... or fuse pulled at source).

Hope this helps...

There seems to be a problem on the power side. You should have at least one terminal at the relay that is hot. The switch activates the relay and transfers the power from the "live" terminal to the hot lead to the lights. Good news is you can completely disconnect fog lights and make your own harness (including a relay) and use a push button or toggle switch on the dash, just like the aftermarket add on lights use! (and it's likely cheaper and more reliable than the original setup)

the bulb in the dash went out you need to remove cluster panel near where the light went out

This is a relay problem, Dont cut any wires you will still have power running to the fog lights and it will drain your battery still so you are not fixing the problem. The Sahara comes standard with fog lights and there is really no way to get rid of them except for repairing the problem at hand

I have a simular problem. Only mine does not some on. I tried to replace the turn signal switch assembly with a used one. The replacement work ok on the fog lights but the rest was bad. As near as I can figure it, the switch assemble is not well made and had many ways to go bad. Either replace the whole assemble or wire in a bipass switch. I am going to go with a bipass switch. I don't trust the new jeep products.

You have a short to ground somewhere in the drl-fog lamp circuit. Check for obvious wiring connector or wiring to drl & fog lamps. check wiring for pinched or broken wires coming from sockets. If you don't find problem, you can trace wiring from lamps to main harnesses and hopefully find source of short.
hope this helps.

the fog lights are already on a separate switch but they wont turn on unless the headlight switch is on !!
