I had a leak in my 2005 Lincoln Aviator's transmission. I took it to the local Ford dealer. They charged me $50 to tell me the level was fine; it needed no addition of fluid even though I had some leak...

Couple of problems with the dealer here.1st where did the fluid come from?2nd if the transmission was not low the was it overfull?3rd did they charge you 50 dollars to check the fluid?hell I would have done it for 40.I understand that this tranmission has no dipstick I just think they should have some answers for 50 dollars. This is why people buy hondas and toyotas.I think you deserve to know where the fluid on your garage floor is coming from.Good Luck!

How do I change or add transmission fluid to a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager

TO CHANGE THE FLUID YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN IF YOU DO SO ADD 4 QTS BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE THE YOU CHECK IT WITH ENGINE RUN TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL ADD UNTIL FULL YOU FILL IT FROM THE DIPSTICK TUBE THAT IS IN THE FRONT NEXT TO THE BATTERY TRAY

I just bought 1998 Ford Escort SE and can't find the oil dipstick. Exactly where is it, and is there perhaps a picture or schematic of one so I know where I may have to install one? Thanks much.

The engine oil dipstick is located on the driver's side of the engine. Remove it and wipe the oil off the dipstick and then thread it back into the tube. Remove the dipstick and read the level. It should be between the MAX and MIN lines. Add oil if necessary. The coolant level is checked by visually inspecting the level in the reservoir while the engine is cold. It should be around the "Full Cold" line. Take a look at the coolant because oil mixed in with the antifreeze could signify a leaking head gasket. The brake master cylinder will be located on the driver's side of the firewall behind the strut tower. Pull the lid off and check the fluid level inside. To check the automatic transmission fluid level, first allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature, then check the fluid level on the dipstick. ------------

Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

The tranny lines are leaking so i am going to replace them tommorow but i was looking for the fill and check ports for the tranny fluid and could not find them. also i need to know the oil capacity.

I take it you have no dipstick for the transmission?? OK, while you are under there replacing the lines, you will see 2 plugs on the right side of the tranny, one high, one low, the low one is the level, the high one is the filler, when you do a filter change, you are looking at 5 qts, or a full rebuild, 13 qts. So pull the bottom plug, if fluid seeps out , it is full, if it doesn't, pull the top plug, get one of those squirt caps on there and fill it till it seep out the bottom. Make sure you get the right fluid, there are about 30 different kinds out there, yours should be dexron 2,or 3 or something like that. Hope this helps.

Where do is the tranny fluid filler on my '99 Legacy Outback? Please don't tell me I have to pour 9.8 qts down the dipstick tube!

yes you do but if you only removed filter and fluid in the pan it should only be around 5 quarts. also make sure you use the right dipstick located on right side of the engine because there is one on the left side for the transfer case which takes gear lube. might want to purchase a transmission funnel makes it easier.
