05' Altima 2.5 S--Radio cuts out when rear window defogger is turned on- and the rear window never defogs. Are they on the same circuit? No fuse is blown.
I have the same problem in my 2003 Altima. I had a friend who works on cars check it out. I watched him and when he removed the panel under the steering wheel next to the driver's door you could hear a clicking noise. He said is sounds like my defogger relay/switch is bad. I located the part and it is not that expensive. I am going to purchase the part and have it put on. I will keep you posted to let you know if it solves my problem. If it does I will give you the name of the part so you can hopefully solve your issue.
This could be caused by a couple of things. The rear window defogger has a ground seperate from the antenna ground. It is on the passenger/right side C pillar. Near that ground there is an antenna amplifier that is bolted to the C pillar. The amplifier grounds through its mounting bolt. Check the bolt for tightness corrosion. Finally, there is a condensor on the rear defogger that is supposed to suppress any static, if this is bad it could cause the static. Do you have aftermarket tint on the rear glass? If so, the installer could have damaged the wire in the glass during installation.

Rear Window Defogger Operation (With LGM)
Battery positive voltage is supplied through the LGM 2 fuse to the LGM for the rear window defogger system. When the rear window defogger switch is depressed, the HVAC control module illuminates the rear window defogger indicator, and sends a class 2 message to the LGM to enable the rear window defogger. The LGM enables the rear window defogger by allowing battery positive voltage to the rear window defogger.
When the rear window defogger switch is pressed for the first time, the defogger cycle lasts 10 minutes. Further operation results in 10 minute defogger cycles.
DTC B0283 Electric Rear Defrost Circuit - do you know what DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's are ?
Circuit Description
The liftgate module (LGM)/endgate module (EGM) monitors the voltage level on the supply voltage circuit of the rear window defogger. The LGM/EGM test the supply voltage circuit of the rear window defogger every 160 milliseconds. With the rear window defogger inactive, the supply voltage circuit of the rear window defogger will have no voltage present. With the rear window defogger active, the supply voltage circuit of the rear window defogger will be near system voltage.
