2.0L VW Golf Leaking Water

I noticed that my car is dripping water after been run for awhile. Its dripping out from the middle of the car underneath. Its clean liquid so its not coolant. Could it have anything to do with the AC?

It is most likely the A/C drain if you have been running your A/C system or have been using your defrosters. (normal operation)

Also, you may want to take a closer look and see if it is dripping from the exhaust. A normal by-product of the chemical reactions going on inside your catalytic converter is H2O. Most exhaust systems on modern automobiles are equipped with drip holes in the resonators and/or mufflers to help prevent severe corrosion of the exhaust system due to the water that is produced..

The air con causes the coolant lines and other parts to frost over during use, when you stop the frost and condensed water are thaw and become water again. No Problem.

Cooling system leaks, VW 2003 Golf

Hi Rich
What your saying it leaks while driving and especially when you shut your car off? the first thing comes to mind is water pump usually they are noticable after shutting off the engine. If you can put a presure test on the system and leave it on at about 14lbs - 18 pounds look for leaks . look at your heater core if you have dranage from the bottom of the chassi, look at the hoses , thermostat housing that is on the water pump you didnt say what Engine you have im sure you will find the leak after running the engine slide a clean peace of card board on the engine and watch for drips you will trace it no problem . Hope its not your head gasket at times head bolts are not really tork right and will devolp a leak. You have aluminum head and cast Iron block head could be warped, Radiator with a small leak hidding behind your AC condensor. All the best maybe you can post your find

thanks Joe

check whether you have a water pump leak, radiator leak or any hoses leaking.

Does the fan turn freely in your hand? possibly a faulty thermostat on the radiator or the water pump isn't working (your car would probably be dead)

you need to shop around for a new muffler. Price is going to vary because of possible damage to brackets etc... and will require a visual inspection by shop.

Find your water pump and put your finger right under the bottom of it and rub it, see if you get water from there on your fingers. If so change your water pump. If that is not the problem, go underneath to where the drip is and follow the stream up to the starting point of the water leak, The bottom of the motor is only the lowest point for the water to drip off.

Vw golf gt tdi 115.

If you are losing water and it is not being forced out of the reservoir (unlikely) and ther is no sign of it dripping from the engine plumbing... then if your acceleration is starting to diminish... or you seem to not have as much power as usual, then it is probably a faulty cylinder head gasket... sorry.... hopefully not, as this is a bit of a job to fix.
