Get a gun and shoot it! Oh, it's a classic. Well, take the inner door panel off to get to the sticky mechanism. Once in there, it should be a simple fix. WD-40 doesn't help on the door latch to try and free it up?
Good luck, hope you get it fixed. I like seeing old cars on the road. and out of recycler's hands. Glad you didn't go for the Cash for Clunkers program, lol.

SOURCE: cant get back door to stay closed

It sounds to me ( correct me if I'm wrong ) like the door latch on the side vertical edge of the door is in the LOCKED POSITION. In order to unlock it perform the following. First electrically with the LOCK button UNLOCK the locks. Now with one hand hold the OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE IN THE OPEN POSITION, while at the same time FLIPPING OPEN THE LATCH. All Done . Now you can close the door. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 1988 ford thunderbird (not se) 3.8L v6 vapor lock

Vapor lock cannot occur in a tank mounted fuel pump. The pump may be worn enough to lose it's pumping ability at high temperatures. Have you changed the fuel filter? Is the check engine light on? If so, rent a scanner, read the code(s) and follow them to repairs. What occurs when the temps reach 96 degrees?

Open the fuse box under the hood and swap the PCM power relay with the Fuel Pump Relay. It should start. Buy a new PCM relay and put the good relays back into their original positions.

My 2002 Ford Thunderbird's driverside door will not close. It seems that the latch is stuck in the closed position, therefore the door will can not shut properly

In some cars it is possible to take the latch with your hand and move the mechanism enough that it will pop back into the open position for you. Be carefull if it snaps back into place your finger could get pinched.

Good luck, if you cannot reset the latch then you will have to replace it.

If you are able to reset it then I would suggest that you lubricate it to help prevent it from getting stuck again.

I need to know how to change the ignition on a 95 Thunderbird LX

Contrary to the repair manual; you do not need to remove the steering wheel. Remove the bottom dash panel below the steering wheel and then the bottom black steering wheel cover (3 screws). You will see a 1/8 inch hole and pin below the lock set. Put the key lock in the neutral position and push the pin and remove the ignition lock set. Put the new lock set in the neutral position and insert it. Turn it to the off position which resets the lock pin.

Cant open the door from the outside when its locked

The electric locks will have to have some charge in the battery before they will work. Even if you have a keypad entry system, you need some power. Can you connect cable to battery positive from below car? Or is hood open? If you can connect from underneath car, go to positive terminal on battery, and ground anywhere on the frame, then try your remote entry. And, where's your door key? Take a lock out, and have the local dealership cut you one. It was only $ 5.00. I just had one made.

My 1989 Chrysler LeBaron with power door locks has the paasenger side door jammed. Any ideas on how to unjam it?

Hi
If the Problem is That you Can't Unlock the Door With Door Unlock Switch, Or The Key Outside of Door, nor can you Unlock Door with Manual Unlock Button [ Electrical Lock Doors Only ] Then More than Likley The lock / Unlock Motor that electricaly Locks and unlocks the Door has become Defective and is Jamming the ability to Unlock the Door by any method. You will have to find some way to get to the Mechinisim to move the door lock to the Unlock Position before you can open the Door. This will be very hard with the Door Closed but you may be able to remove the cover over the inside door handle and with some moveing of the link to the lock / unlock mechensim to get the door Unlocked. If not you may have to take it to your dealer or a body shop to see if they can get the Door unlocked. Try not to force unlock with a key as this will damage the Keylock Mechinism.
Then you will have to replace the Door lock / unlock Motor or simply disconnect the linkage to the door lock / unlock Motor and use a key to lock / unlock the Door untill you can replace the motor.
This is a common problem that shows up in these older cars. In my case both of the door lock motors on my 1987 Lebaron went out about the same time but the Pasenger went out first.
Usually the first indication that this problem is about to occure is you find that the Door lock becomes harder to lock and unlock with the key or with the manual door lock button.
