Question about 1994 Lexus LS 400

2 Answers

My egr wire harness plug that plugs into the egr, became brittle. And fell apart as I disconnected it. Is there a way to know which wire goes to which leg in the egr, I have a 94 Lexus ls 400. Car seems to run better without plug, just the check engine light stays on, is there any help for problem?

An easier way might to go to your local parts store and buy what is called a pigtail . Then just color match it and plug it in. Plastic parts are not what they should be and Heat seems to make them very brittle . good luck.

SOURCE: all dash warning lights came

You're alternator has gone bad and the vehicle was running on battery power. The "clicking" sound is your now dead battery that does not have enough power to turn over the starter. You might also want to check your power steering pump for leak. This is a know problem with early LS400s and will most likey be the cause of the alternator failure. I just dropped $1050.00 to fix the very same promblems you have.

SOURCE: 96 lexus es 300 blinking check engine light

Hi there;

#4 Miss-fire. All the things you are saying make a lot of sense. When the light is blinking the cylinder is actualy misfiring, & the smell you are smelling is the fuel that is not burning in the engine burning in the exahst. This can cause a lot of damage to the exausht if it is not repaired..
There is still a couple of things that need to be checked, first he needs to check to see if it is possibly a fuel injector that is sticking. He can do this easily by moving the #4 injector to another cylinder & run the car. When it starts missfiring he will need to see if it is still #4 or if it is the cylinder that he moved the injector to. if it is the new cylinder it is obviously the injector, if it is still #4 he will need to look into the possibility of the EGR valve sticking open or some other issue to do with valve timing or low compression.
I hope this helps

Replaced spark plugs on a 2004 Explorer. Car became loud and tinging and eventually died? What could be wrong?

It is possible that you have two or more plug wires on the wrong spark plugs or one of the wires fell off the plug.

Where is the knock sensor bank 2 wiring harness located

Hi John, The knock sensors on both banks are fitted as closely to the cylinder head as possible. The knock sensors 'listen' to the ignition and adjust spark timing accordingly. They are fitted onto the hottest place on the engine and consequently the cables often get heated and hardened and easily break. The sensor is usually under the intake manifld (making it fairly hard to find, but it will be there. Regards John

The check engine light came on i my car so I took it up to checkers. They scanned the car and a code came up reading cam shaft position sensor. I got it replaced but, the code is still coming up and my car...

The problem may be unrelated to one another

Are the plugs NGK factory recomended plugs gapped properly?

Or are they bosch platinum or other brand?

Did you have the original codes cleared by disconnecting your battery and reconnecting it?

It could just be that the plugs are not the right type OR you may have the wrong wires or teh harness plug is broken.

93 mercury villager check engin light comes on for 2 days then off for a day then back on i dont know where to plug in my scanner

I too have a 93 Villager. Recently the check engine light came on especially on the highway cruising speed and it turned out to be caused by clugged EGR. My mechanic cleaned up the carbon build-up ( not replace EGR) from all those 170K miles and it seems to fix the problem. He charged me $150 for the labor only. Also the gas mileage seems to improved a bit as well.

How do you access and remove the valvecover on a 1989 firebird formula 350 (Side the AC unit is on.)? I tried to change my gasket, but was unable to get enough room to take the cover off.

ON these you do need to remove the a/c compressor. You do not need to undo the hoses but unbolt the compressor and set it asside out of the way. Be vary careful in doing this so not to break the hoses or anything else. You may have to remove the a/c brackets as well. Just remember how they come apart so you can put them back. Let me know how you did. and if you need more info. Please leave feedback.

Coil pack harness

Its important not to cross the wires in the plug if they are exposed, damage to your possible.Make sure you unhook the batt. before changing anything electrical to avoid computer damage and have codes avaliable for your radio.A auto parts store willnot carry this plug, you will need to contact a auto recycling yard or salvage yard to get this plug.If you you find one ask if you can have the plug with 6-in of wire so you can either splice the wires together or try pulling each individual wire out of your old plug and put them into the new plug.Mark all wires and where they go.Write on paper.( a diagram of the wires)which wire goes where and what the color code of each wire is.Hope this helps.
