No, when taken out should have been marked to go back the same way. when u joints changed did they move freely or were they stiff to move if so that can cause a out of balance problem

balance on tail shaft was what? it sounds like the drive shaft and universal joints yokes were not scribe marked to be put in the same place causing the drive shaft to be unbalanced there are weights on the drive shaft EX. little metal bars welded to it try taking it out and rotating the shaft a bolt hole at a time or a universal joint cap + at a time to see if it helps also the universal joint could not be seated properly causing intense vibration at take off please respond and be much more specific so I can possibly help you figure it out with out actually seeing the truck LATER MAN!

How would i know if my cv joint is going bad on my 94 ford ranger 2 wheel drive

A two wheel drive ranger does not have any c.v. Joints. It does have u joints in the rear drive shaft. Worn out u joints can cause vibrations at highway speeds, squeezing noises at low speeds, and in some cases a clunking noise when the transmiissin is placed in park or drive. You can check them by pulling the drive shaft and ratting the joint. If it is stiff or loose than they are likely bad. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. I have a 1989 ford ranger 4cyl 5 speed and i cannot figure out how to stop the drive shaft from turning when i go to take the bolts that hold the front piece of the drive shaft (this is a 2wd truck) to the...

most 2WD vehicles the drive shaft pulls out of the tranny after you unbolt it from your rear axle. if not you can use a large flathead screwdriver or something like that to wedge in the unbroken u joint, have a friend hold the screwdriver or prybar while you try n break the bolts free. if you have a small propane or butane torch it will help tons to heat around the bolts just a little bit to loosen up the lock tite that they put on the bolts. just a little heat tho! you dont want to warp the yoke

Replaced u joints on 1989 Montero rear drive shaft. Now drive shaft has vibration which peaks around 65 mph. Think I reassembled wrong or bad part(s)? Used Precision not OEM Mitsubishi u joints.

When you took it apart did you "match mark" the joints so that it went back together the same? If not then your driveshaft is probably out of balance. Any driveline shop can correct this. By match marking I mean that you make a mark on each piece of the driveshaft so that when you put it back together the pieces are in the same position relative to each other. If one piece got put back 180 degrees out, it can cause the whole shaft to become unbalanced.

How do you grease the driveline on a 2006 fx4 ford ranger 4.0L V6

OEM shafts are typically not greased or servicable. When it is time to replace u-joints, the aftermarket joints often have grease fittings.

Need to replace upper left ball joint on a 2001 ford ranger, xlt, 4x4 v6 4.0 liter

You will need to replace the control arm with the ball joint since it is not sold separately. If one is found it will be a foreign made piece of junk and not worth using. They are weak and break

When I am going down the road my truck shakes really bad. But only when I am on the gas. What could be wrong with it?

it could be a "U-joint" in the driveshaft, a bad tire on the drive axle,a harmonic balancer on the front of the engine

Drive shaft for 1988 Ford Ranger extended cab

I have a '88 Ranger XLT extra cab 4X4 w/auto tranny (2.9L V6) that had a 2-piece driveshaft on it. After adding a 4" suspension lift, there was a strong vibration whenever I took off from a dead stop. I replaced the drive shaft with a beefed up 1 piece custom built by a shop specializing in drive shafts. The truck no longer had any vibration, and it hooks up immediately on exceleration. I found the shop on Ebay advertising drive shafts. All I had to do was measure the length from the transfer case/Tranny to the rear differential. The length of the new drive shaft allowed me to adjust almost 3/4" so all I had to do was get it close. I also took close up pictures so the shop could match up the correct flange on both ends of the driveshaft. The last thing I had to do was flip the crossmember brace so it wouldn't interfere with the new drive shaft.
