i had the same problem with my 1995 silverado..it would start and run, but if you put it in gear it would **** out. i replaced the fuel pump which is in the fuel tank(someones brilliant idea) and my problems are gone.

I think you should head to a mechanic. Sounds like you got water in the fuel system. You could possibly resolve the issue by filling up with a fresh tank of gas, but that could also cause more problems if there is a lot of water in there already. I'd take it to a trusted mechanic.
Are you sure its a 5.7L? The didnt make a 5.7L in 2002. what is the 8th, and 10th VIN digit? what is fuel pressure when it runs, and what is pressure when it stalls.? that engine needs 55-62 psi to run. below that it wont.
Fuel filter. Timing/timing chain. Idle air control valve. Idle sensor. Vacuum leak. Probably one of the above, but the filter is cheapest place to start. Change your air filter too, if you haven't for a while.
