The mirror should slide over the metal piece from the top down and then there should be a set screw to tighten once you have it in place. Hold the mirror bracket above the metal, and slide it down over top. I hope you are successful.

Go to the auto parts store. They sell a special kit to reattach your mirror. It is simple to do. You MUST follow the package instructions.
