I drive a 99 VW Cabrio. It's making this loud noise when I accelerate. It started yesterday. I figured it was just the cold. I let the car warm up for like 20min and then it stopped. This morning the same thing. I let the car warm up for like 10 min. and it made the noise when I accelerated. Once it shifted it stopped. The prob. and what makes me nervous is that once I got off the highway it started to make the noise again. It even started to make the noise while I sat waiting at the red light. It doesn't make the noise when it's in park only when I accelerate and now when I'm at a stop light. It makes the noise when it;s between 0~35mph about. At about 40 the noise stops. It sounds like its coming from in-between the seats. But I'm not sure.

I do not believe there is a DIY solution to this problem, You could try Lucas brand transmission fix. Would only help the problem temporarily. You may have a band in the xmsm going out, or a shift valve. I know 45000 miles does not seem like much on a rebuild, but something is going on inside the case. The Lucas xmsn fix is really thick fluid and it sticks in the valves and makes them fill faster to get to the next gear, or as I understand it, may fix whining for awhile, but when it returns you will have to take it to a transmission shop.

who ever told you its the throw out bearing was wright. its an enclosed bearing so it does not run in any oil. if it only makes noise when it cold or sets for a while its common and dose not warrent taking it to a shop. all there going to tell you is you need a new clutch$$$$witch you do not need.

Well, unfortunetly, a lean code with low fuel pressure and a whining fuel pump all point to a failing fuel pump, which will leave you stranded. My suggestion would be to talk to the manager of the repair shop and have them work you a deal because from what you're telling me it sounds like they missed the ball on your first two visits. I would demand they not charge for the labor, so you just pay for the part. Let me know if you need further explanations.
