Leaking power sterring flowed from sterring rack. do i need a new sterring rack or can you chang the sill on the rack.

You'll need to replace the rack and pinion. It will likely cost about 600 bucks.

the sterring rack (this is the long rack) must be replaced to correct this leak, the internal seal bore is most likely scored.

the stearing wheel with a play usually means one thing.. the stearing box..

you can eighter change the seals and stuff in the box,, or change the box all together.. Also the stearing rack could be at fault as well.. same thing applies,, change seals of change rack.. Remove the rack firstmm its the most likey cause.

when power steering is leaking. you need a new rack and pinion. you need to find out if you need it rough or smooth and prices vary pedending on make and model and the labor is extra. rack and pinions can run from $437 and up and that does not include labor. call a auto parts and ask them to look up a rack and pinion for the make and model of your car then you can call and see how much labor will cost but alot of places want you to buy the part from them which can be more expensive

If you have checked the belt (it still has one that is) the grinding noise will be the pump but the loss of fluid could also be the steering rack at fault, try to find out where its leaking from

The 8 years I ran a shop I didnt have very many issues with them... They leak with age and wear as most eventually will... what is your issue?

low power steering fluid wont but low power steering pressure can. there is a switch in the rack that sends messages to the pcm.the switch can be replaced separate from the rack.if the rack is leaking it needs replaced but if the switch is leaking it can be replaced separate.

Is there any noise?Did you check the power sterring fluid in the pump?
