Just a thought! There is a provision where when fuel pressure drops the ignition is shut off. This is to prevent pumping when the fuel line is compromised. Monitor fuel pressure to see if it drops during normal operation.

Replace your gas cap and see if that does it

Check your grounds guys...if even ONE ground is loose or corroded from the block, she'll act up...especially more when warm. Another good place to check is under your console (behind radio), this is where your main ground actually connects (weird yes) but we've rebuilt a stealth and had this problem....turned out to be the ground on the metal chassis behind the radio.

SOURCE: 1997 dodge dakota v6 engine wont start replaced

turn the key to the on position a see if you can here a buzzing sound around the fuel tank,if you don't hear a sound then. (be very careful while doing this) with the key off take a fuel line coming from the tank loose, make sure its pointed away from you and turn the key to the on position, see if any gas comes out,if not then your fuel pump is probably bad.

Car suddenly dies while driving down the road. Wont start up until at least 12 hours have gone by.

THERE LOTS OF POSSIBILITIES, BUT A COUPLE THAT ARE COMMON IS THE MODULE FOR THE DISTIBUTOR IT IS EXTERNAL ON A METAL BRACKET ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE IF ITS A 4.3 & I AM POSITIVE IT IS BECAUSE GM DIDN'T OFFER ANOTHER ENGINE FOR THAT VEHICLE,OR IT COULD BE THE ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) OR A COIL OVERHEATING GOING BAD, AND THE LAST AND LEAST LIKELY IF IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR A WHILE IS THE FUEL PUMP, BUT USUALLY AFTER 2 TO 5 TIMES THE FUEL PUMP JUST QUITS, AND ITS ALL DONE TILL YOU REPLACE IT.

1994 dodge dakota ran rough then died.

have you checked the distributor? When checking for the spark do you pull out one end of the high tension wire (the one connected to the spark plug )and watch (be careful with this one) if there are sparks coming of the end of the high tension wire? If there are none there check out the distributor it may have gone bad or wiring, specifically the ground connector if they are loose or had been disconnected.

If there are sparks in the high tension check the fast idle control valve and the PCV if they need cleaning and the vacuum tubes if there are leaks

1995 ford taurus 3.0l v6 wagon no spark.

Listen TFI module is more than likely the problem change it. TFI module controls spark and timing and fuel. Keep one with you in the car. The module is getting hot and not working right.

Dies after starting

Sound like the faulty diode on the Distributor which is a common problem on the '93 up to '94 and half V6 Probes. Never was recalled but should have been. Pop in a new Distributor from a mazda or ford and you're golden if that is the problem. My t distributor was a mazda but made by mitsubishi. Go figure, both are excellent Japanese car companies.

It sounds like the same thing that happened to my sons car. He was driving home from school and it just died on him. It acted like it wanted to start but would not. He replaced the ignition module and now it starts. He was gotting power from the coil to the distributor, but not from the distributor. Good luck
