This is called a parasitic load condition.Something isn't turning off when the car is turned off.Our 2005 Grand Caravan has an function that keeps the radio and power windows operational after the key is off(called Retained Accessory Power). If there is something wrong with this,it may not be shutting off like it suppose to.This may be what your tech was talking about.

SOURCE: Clicking Noise when trying to start vehicle

check your key remote if it is not programmed the alarm will go into the kill switch mode and will not allow you to start your engine Having the same trouble with one of my keys I haven't found a way to reprogram it without calling dealer and paying a chunk.

SOURCE: radio doesn't turn on

no its not a fuse the anti theft built in the radio has locked you out and the only way to get it to work again is pull it out and copy all the numbers that are on it call your local dealer for that vehicle ask for parts department tell them you replaced the battery and need the unlock code for the stereo. also it will help you if you tell them u work for a mechanic shop just give them the name of one they dont question anything. and they'll give you the code

SOURCE: 02 Dodge Stratus 2.4 liter Won't shift out of 2nd gear

First thing I'd do is check all around battery area for damage, and loose connections etc, and power distribution box should be near it, and check all connections there as well. Inspect thoroughly for loose ground at frame etc. I wouldn't start replacing parts yet, you've, or someone has some work to do before then. If this will be an insurance claim, keep notes of what's happening & make sure it's all repaired before you sign off claim.

SOURCE: 2001 dodge ram 1500 wont start

1st is the batt. old? second it could be the batt. cable ends when you jumped it the jumping vehicle made a connection the third poss able option is the starter
however if the batt. is old and bad it will make the computer scramble and fail to fire up even if it rolls over, disconnect batt for 2 min. jumping will not hurt it iether as long you are doing it in a safe way

SOURCE: 2003 dodge ram 1500, won't start, red security light flashes

more than likely in the interlock device i have known these things to mess with all kinds of systems on cars have it checked out to make sure everything is correctly connected and that they did not hook into the security system by accident.

Your charging system is not working correctly. Unlike most other vehicles, the alternator in yours does not have a built in regulator circuit. Some troubleshooting must be done to find the defective component. Most of this can be done with the vehicle still assembled.

First, check that you don't have a blown fusible link. In most newer cars, these will be in the underhood fuse panel, and look like giant fuses. If good, you will read very nearly zero volts and zero ohms when measuring between the positive battery terminal and the alternator output terminal. If either measurement doesn't read zero, find the loose connection, bad wire, or blown fusible link.

Next, check the ground connections to the engine, battery, and car body to make sure you don't have a bad wire or connection somewhere. Again, measure voltage and resistance between the negative battery terminal and all associated grounding locations. For a quickie test, you can rig a jumper cable between the battery negative terminal and the alternator case. If there is a spark when you make the connection, you have a bad ground somewhere.

If your battery is well connected to the alternator, the problem may lie in the control circuit. Most Chrysler alternators have two control wires that control the field coil. Some control the battery current and have constant ground supplied, and some have battery voltage applied and control the ground current. To test, disconnect the control connector and measure the voltage of both terminals with the ignition in the "off" and "run" positions. Make a chart of each terminal and its corresponding voltage.

Start the vehicle and measure both terminals again. If the terminals tend to be zero volts, except when the vehicle runs you have voltage on one terminal, you have a system where the computer controls battery voltage. If the terminals tend to be 12 volts when the ignition is on, then one terminal goes low when the engine runs, the computer controls ground current. If the voltages of one terminal change but not the other, this suggests a bad computer.

To do a go/no go test of the alternator unit, you can connect the control pins on the alternator with the control connector disconnected. Simply connect jumper wires to the two control terminals of the alternator. Connect one jumper to a known good ground, leaving the other jumper loose. Connect a voltmeter to the battery terminals or to the output wire on the alternator. Start the vehicle and briefly connect the second jumper wire to the positive battery terminal while watching the voltmeter. While the jumpers are both connected, the battery voltage should rise dramatically. If it doesn't, this suggests a bad alternator.

If all this sounds too complicated or dangerous, a good mechanic can perform a similar diagnosis in under an hour with definite results. Good luck.

Before u get the answer. How did u hook the battery up. ? Positive to positive. Neg to neg. If u did. Thats ur issue. U made a 12 volt car in to 24 volt. And u fried your computer. If u hooked the van battery positive to positive and van battery neg to dead car frame. Which you should have done. My guess is you blow a fuse. One of the big ones. But from your notes of nothing works no matter how or what battery u use. U fried the vehicle computer and if the paint and body and drive train are in awesome shape id say go buy a new computer and go from there if the car needs more money to get on the road thsn a yrs worth of fuel id say scrap it get a bus pass or drive the van. But just dont offer kids candy at schools vans are so old school .... Good luck

sounds like it could be the pressure control valve on the fuel pump not an expensive repair. the pressure drops in the line over night. try priming the filter whilst the engine is being cranked. the control valve is held on by 3 torx screws on the end of the pump.

2005 Town & Country Van dead battery after short trips

Possible dead cell in battery, most likely a fault in the charging system. First, Jump Vehicle to get started then remove the Negative cable. If the vehicle dies when you take the jumper cables away or when you disconnect the negative cable your alternator or charging system is faulty. If the vehicle runs without battery connected you have a bad cell in your battery, replace the battery.

1988 Ford E350 with 2 batteries won't start, just clicks

It has to have 2 batteries because it is a diesel engine. Diesels use compression to fire the combustion mixture instead of a spark plug as a gasoline engine does. It has glow plugs that heat the mixture up before starting to help promote this and it has probably twice the compression ratio, therefore it takes alot of amps to start it and that is why you have 2 batteries. No it still only has one solenoid for the starter but it has to use a gear reduction starter instead of a conventional one.
