It is located under the alternator. If you are looking down at the engine, it is to the far left. If you are under the car it is to the far right before the oil pan.

In Hyundai Elantra 2008, oil filter is located toward the front on the passenger side. You can see it if you look from the driver side. There is a plastic shield that you can remove to get at it.

im certain the oil pan on the transmission has to be taken off, after draining the oil the you will see the filter. it is held on by a clip.

It maybe a valve cover leak, the retangular covers (2) the sparks plugs are located along the side, if you see oil around you will need to have the valve cover gasket replaced
