P0304 Engine started to run extremely rough. I thought my engine was going to explode. Got the P0304 code and changed all 8 plugs (quite a job on the 5.4L 3V.) Did it with no plugs breaking. Plugs had 105,000 on them. After the plugs change, truck ran smooth for 2 days and now, truck rides rough intermittently and then goes back to running smooth. HELP!

All are fuel related , as in running lean. I'd start by checking all vacuum lines for possible leak, then buy some spray cleaner for MAF sensor & give it a good spray or tuner spray from TV repair place or radio shack, is even better. Ford says not to (they'd rather sell new part) but it will work at least long enough to see if that's the problem before you replace a bunch of parts.

If your code reader doesn't have an erase function you can disconnect the battery for a few minutes and that should reset the computer.

Light should have stored code. Go to local autoparts chain & get free scan for codes and go from there. Saves all that guess work & money a lot of times. Write down code(s) and let us know.

Gas Filter? Then scan tool on it,to look for codes set when check light came on. Most likely a senor is old and out of range.

i would check the plug wires and the coils you check the plug wires for bad spots at night start the motor up and look at the plugs if you see a spark arch out the wire and to a peace of metal then the plug wires need to be replace.

My chevy popped a p0304 code. It's running rough. Would that be the 02 sensor or spark plug?

P0304 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for a misfire on cylinder 4. This could be caused by a variety of issues, including a faulty spark plug or oxygen sensor. However, a rough idle and a misfire could also be caused by other issues such as a vacuum leak, low fuel pressure, or a malfunctioning fuel injector. It's best to have a professional diagnose the specific cause of the issue.

2007 BMW engine light with code P0304.

It is one of the two. First thing is to remove and check the plug for gap and condition. Then reset the code and run the vehicle. If it does it again, you swap the coil pack from Number 4 to Number 1. If the misfire them moves to number 1 you know the coil pack is the issue. Sometimes just moving it will fix the issue as the connections get remade.

The P0304 indicates the #4 cylinder is misfiring. The flashing light means the cylinder is not firing at all...It could be several things causeing it, coil, wires, plug, injector or vacuum leak. Do not drive your vehicle until you have this repaired, as it will lead to further more costly problems. Good luck, i hope this helps.

We have code p0304 on our 2001 chrysler voyager(with 220,000 miles) it runs rough and runs worse when ac is on. we tried to change spark plugs, gas cap and air filter. The check engine light was then...

P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected,A code P0304 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plug or wire
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Running out of fuel
  • Poor compression
  • Defective computer
  • If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs).. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wiresmag-glass_10x10.gif, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced.

99 chevy silverado 4x4 getting code p0304 coad changed plugs wires and coil still getting code, runs rough and cranks for a long time before it starts

You could have a faulty Fuel injector problem with your poppet valve. There common to go bad and start to leak causing misfires and ruff idle. There is an upgrade to the CSFI to covert to MFI system.

Here is a link that should help you with your P0304: http://members.shaw.ca/betterthanyoutoo/Sticking%20Poppet.htm

Good luck and thank you for using fixya
