Have the same problem in our 2002 Spectra. The bad news we received was that in 2002 Kia put some not so good engine blocks in that allowed the crank keeper key to "hog-out" it's slot. This allows the crank to shift a little in timing, which makes cam sensor error and make check engine light come on. Even with a new sensor, it will happen. Our mechanic's best advise was to drive it, local only, until it finally gives way, then find used engine, either newer or older. The only year it would appear to affect is 2002. If your mechanic tears the engine down as though changing timing belt, he or she should be able to see if this is the case.

Well, it is either a timing belt/chain going out or a bad crank position sensor most likely causing the other problems. The O2 sensor may be bad as well but that usually doesn't cause the Misfire. The vehicle on board computer is confused, that is why it is throwing all those codes. and why it gives you that 1166 code which isn't defined. Check the crank position sensor and the timing and timing belt first. Once you have that fixed the rest should clear up.
Hello and thank you for asking your question here on fixya.com.
I have actually written a general information article that will walk you
through the general process of changing the fan belt on your 2004 Kia Spectra.
It will also point you to the resources you need for
getting the diagrams of how the belt needs to go back on. Belts usually
cost less than $20 and take a few minutes to put them on.

I follow back, too. :)
if you have dual over head cams and if your timing belts breaks u can cause valve or piston damage if its single over head cam there wont be any damage to any valves or pistons on those type of kia engines
