If it doesnt switch you may have a vaccum leak, but i work for a junk yard and we seel alot of heater controls for this car you may want to get a new or used one from a junk yard

Testimonial: "Heater core was pluged - No heat problem, Hole in vaccum line by battery - Cause of no controll of air flow to defrost, vent, floor.Tried used heater control - was not the problem"

SOURCE: 1999 Buick Lesabre heater/defrost blowing cold air

You probably have an air bubble and the engine needs to be "burped". I assume you have a 3.8L V6. First take a look in the radiator to make sure it is full. Not just the plastic overflow tank, take the radiator cap off and look. Make sure the engine is cold though. The radiator should be full to the top. The way the system works is that as you drive your car, the water heats up and expands and the check valve in the radiator cap will let the overflow go into the plastic tank when the pressure get over a set amount usually 14-17 lbs. When you shut off your engine, the water will be slowly sucked back into the radiator as the engine cools. If the radiator cap is bad, it may not let the water get sucked back into the radiator and the engine will run hot, you will get air and steam bubbles in the engine, the thermostat will work as long as it has water running by it but if a slug of steam goes by it, it will close. Water will not circulate through the top part of the heater core. "Burping" that engine is a pain but just keep the overflow tank full and check it every time you *start* the car. The air will work itself out. If this does not work it is probably the controls. These are managed by the computer. Try unhooking one of the battery cables and leave it off for at least 20 minutes. When you hook it back up the computers should re-boot. That has solved problems for me with heater, interior lites, power windows, AC, day time running lites, power mirrors, fast idle, rough or slow shifting, CD player, and wipers on GM autos and S-10 PU and Dodge trucks. None of the switches are connected to the device they control anymore. The switch tells the computer to open the window and the computer sends a signal to the window motor. When the computer gets confused strange things will happen or not happen. Things like one headlight stays off etc. I actually had to do it twice on my Bonneville because the first time the AC blower would only work in low and medium. After the second re-boot, everything was fine. Of course you may have to re-set your radio stations.

SOURCE: I have a 1998 buick Regal and the heater does not

I beleive that you may have low coolant because as your vehicle warms up the coolant volume increases which would give you just enough coolant to circulate to the heater core. When you are stopped your water pump also isn't circulating as fast and sending that little bit of coolant to your heater core, I imagine that if you top up your radiator or resevoir with coolant your problem should disappear. Keep an eye on it to see if it goes down again as this might just be air coming out of the system or it might indicate a leak either external (drip) or internal (whitish smoke in warm weather). Hope this helps.

My A/C used to blow out very cold and with lots of force at the vents, now I get cold air but you can barley feel the air coming out of the vents. The fan sound like it is on high but very little airflow....

It sounds like you have a blend door issue.Try cycling the air to blow on different parts of the cab ie: defrost,to floor to vent.if you have cold air blowing good on all selections and you know your motor is working on all speeds, then you have a blend door not opening. The control for that is behind the heater/ac control unit. They do go bad from time to time. You can pick up a replacement at either a dealer or a Auto Parts place that sells GM or AC DELCO parts.

Nothing blows out dash vents, but will blow out thru defrost nad floor vents on 1999 buick PA with dual auto air controls

check for a vacuum leak in the hose going to the heater controls. Goes from engine compartment, through firewall, into dash to control head. Also, has a vacuum storage canister under hood. When system fails, it defaults to defrost.

Heat wont blow through heater or defroster vents

No heat, when I turn on heater- all cold air flows out

sounds like you have a stuck blend door in the HVAC system. If its not controled by vacuum the servo motor is bad or the vacuum line is bad. This door moves back and forth to go from vent to floor to defrost. and you have one to go from cold side to hot side. Hope this helps you

93 ford festiva heater only blows cold air.

The heater only blows HOT air when set on defrost or floor settings. If you have the lever set for vent, only cold air will come out. Check to make sure you set the controls to floor or defrost. This is standard for all Festiva's.
