Question about 2005 Hyundai Accent 1.5
All lights work, but tail lights won't shut off, even with the key out of the ignition. This problem came on suddenly. Parked the car at work, when I got back at the end of the day, the car wouldn't start, battery was dead. After jumping it, car drove fine all the way home. After getting out of the car, I noticed the tail lights were still on. the only way to shut them off is to disconnect the battery. any ideas?

Pull that fuse or pull tail lamp relay, that should kill the lamps till you figure out the problem? You also have left an right tail lamp fuses, underhood fuse box. I don't know if tail lamp relay is faulty? Another concern, see the bottom wire on left of tail lamp relay, that is a ground controlled by the headlamp/multifunction switch, there could be a problem with that wire circuit or the multifunction switch. At the moment, I'm hoping just faulty relay.

hiya if the rear lights are remaining on ? with no ignition it will be the brake lights staying on this is easily remendied/ checked by trypulling the brake pedal up by hand and see if lights go off ? if so then you will need to adjust the b/light switch which is positioned adjacent to pedal and can be screwed inwards towards the pedal untill the plunger on switch is pushed into the switch which puts lights off ensure pedal is fully up then adjust switch reconnect the wire/plug and press pedal slightly to ensure b/lights operate ok and then go off with pedal released ? on hyundai the brakelights do not req ignition on to operate hence more likely problem is as above good luck

ok when the check engine light comes on that usually indicates a engine malfunction...what you can do is go to your local autozone and they can do an OBDII test for free..my bet says it is the cam or crank sensor.. DO NOT SHUT THE CAR OFF AT AUTOZONE..LOL

ask hundai if there is a main relay. These are often the cause of this kind of problem and normally reside under the dash.
This is common in Honda, Accura, toyota and huyndai.
Replace main relay or take it apart and resolder all connections.

I believe the alternator belt has broken or the alternator it's self has quit working. Open the hood and see if any of the pulleys are missing the belt.

Get it scanned. You should be under warrantee. Otherwise most auto parts stores will do this. Could be as simple as a loose gas cap.
