Without seeing the vehicle and not seeing a datastream,i would suspect catalytic convertor damage causing restricted exhaust gases or shorted oxygen sensor. Most of the time a shorted oxygen sensor will set an engine code. Catalyst restriction is much harder to diagnose ,but will cause inert exhaust gases to back up into the intake manifold. Inert gases do not contain enough oxygen for complete combustion.

SOURCE: misses when hot also lifters become noisy

The camshaft may be worn or the lifters .that explains the missing when you run it at operating temp.By the description of the oil. the reasomn the canmshaft wore out and the valve lifters is because the oil was not changed on a regular basis.

SOURCE: car starts fine and runs good until it gets hot

I think you have to check and monitor your engine temperature..Has this risen more than half on the indicator and if it stays there and goes further and does not comes back to half way or less then you have few problems..It may be your radiator is blocked and may need replacing or else it may be your thermostat is not good. But you have to be very careful as this may cause the head gasket to blow off and mess the engine.Check if there is lots of water coming out through the exhaust pipe. Also cross check your water level and if you notice it needs refilling quite often then you have a damaged gasket..Hope this helps and leave me a rating..

My 04 gmc envoy runs great until it reaches operating temp, then it starts running like its miss firing

You might have your cat converter looked to. It may be getting clogged. Or your coil packs are getting weak. If you haven't done one in a while, the first thing I'd look to do is a tune up with new plugs, wires, etc.

1988 Ford F350 460,fuel injected, Wont start,,, Coil only sends spark once per revolution of the rotor

Hello Donn,

UN-fortunately 1988 is WELL before the OBD
(on board diagnostic)... DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE
Codes (DTC) got standardized...

So DAYS can be wasted looking for commonality...
(troubles).

Rather than assuming your spark, timing, fuel, ECU...
Oxygen Sensors. INJECTORS are all askew...

I would suggest that if you SATURATED YOUR
HEADER BOLTS with LIQUID WRENCH...

and opened you EXHAUST ahead of your catalytic
converters... ahead of your mufflers... you engine would run...

Obviously DANGEROUS to operate in that condition... at
least you would know what had to be REPLACED before
you can operate your vehicle SAFELY.

If you decide the job is a bit too much... at least
check out your PURCHASE cost of a replacement
CAT and/or MUFFLER...

I cannot get power to fuel pump on my 94 mustang gt...car died sudden while driving and the fuel pump will not cut on..only testing votage at 1.90volts when keys is turned on..i tested fuel pump..its runs...

When you turn the key on it will only energize the fuel pump relay for two seconds , or until you crank the engine over . The PCM - engine computer controls the fuel pump relay . Watch this video

So, I have a 88 ford mustang. It starts right up

Sounds like the control module/pick up coil in the distributor is bad.

7.3 rough idle

Gas or diesel having same problem, I'd start there to confirm fuel pressure . It may be pump running partially when cool, but when it heats up (the pump) it may be cutting out pressure wise. Not uncommon for a fuel pump to pump good when cold, then die once pump heats up from running. Still makes noise, but isn't supplying any or enough pressure.

1976 f350 with 1978 ford 460 dies or runs really bad when hot

sounds like its vapor locking, try a vented gas cap,or a clothes pin on your fuel line close to the carb.
