2000 Nissan Frontier Chugs when accelerating

When I accelerate, the truck chugs or jerks. I recently had oil change, alternator replaced and some power stering hoses replaced. chugging problems began after this work. I did have a KNOCK SEN/CIRCUIT AND PURG VOLUME CONT/V code as I was leaving the Nissan parking lot after the last service, but they said that was not important.

hi if thats the case it is afuel problem

# replace fuel filter
# remove fuel from pump the one that goes back to the pump remove fuel cap blow threw with compressed air to make sure there is no blockages
# if u can get a fuel pressure gauge check fuel pressure it should be about 4-6 psi
# on the carby fuel where it connects to the carby there should be a bolt take it of and from memory there is a little screen filter check if its blocked and clean blow air into the carby fuel inlet
# on the bottom of carby body midway is 2 nuts facing down one has the main jey in it when u take this off all the fuel should come out of the carby place air nozzle in hole and hit it with high pressure to clear

SOURCE: changed mass air sensor still stalling 1997 nissan pathfinder

As a factory Nissan trained Technician with dealership experience - it can be many things, but it sounds alot like a mis-adjusted or faulty TPS, and/or a faulty IAC(Idle air control) valve - I'd try the TPS and set to appx. .50 vdc (.47/.49) Volts DC and if that isn't it, I'd definitely look to the idle air control valve ( allows for air bypass - sometimes called bypass air control valve). May then need base timing and idle set at shop with OBDII ignition disabling option, for seting timing and idle, otherwise computer won't allow proper setting...then if connector to IAC is OK - should be just fine...

What is causing the jerking when accelerating?

Plug it in for sure.. Clear the computer first off. Take the sensor off and take WD-40 and spay it in the hole that the sensor covers.. There could be a build up between the sensor and the cam, OR you could have a crank sensor problem, check that after you clear the computer and clean the hole.

Car chugs and jerks like crazy while cruising

Determine whether the jerking is engine or transmission related. One way to determine if it is the transmission lock up converter is acting erratically is to down shift out of OD. And see if jerking persist. If it goes away suspect transmission to have problems with torque converter or TCC solenoid . If it doesn't go away determine whether or not the engine sounds to be misfiring. If so vehicle may require a tune up. Many vehicles can be diagnosed for free at your local Auto Zone.

The guage may rise a little when you accelerate the vehicle...but if it is pegged high, and does not fluctuate, when you turn your ignition key on an off...Your oil pressure switch maybe going bad...Goodluck

Power loss / low idle speed

This could be a multitude of things but my first suggestion would be to change the spark plugs. They are cheap and can be bought at any auto parts store.
