My 2000 plymouth neon will not start, nothing works on it. It wont jump off or start by popping the clutch. I drove it to a mechanic to change the motor mounts and when he was done it wouldnt crank. He said its nothing he did and refused to fix it. I have had it for 4 years and never had a problem with it starting right up! So i took it to another mechanic and he checked all the wires, changed the computer and the coil pack and it still wont crank. The computer is reading and saying nothing is wrong with it. I NEED HELP!!! This car is my only means of transport!!
If the headlights and dashboard lights are working but the vehicle still does not start, the ignition switch is most likely the problem. or a bad wire from switch. If your battery checks out, but the starter is still silent, it may be a faulty ignition switch. Turn the key to the on position (not all the way to start). If the red warning lights on your dash don't light up (and your battery connections are clean), the ignition switch is bad. If they do light up, turn the key to the start position. The dash warning lights should turn off at this key position (most cars). If you're not sure, turn on the headlights. When you try to start the car, the lights should either dim (a lot) or turn off completely. If they do, your ignition switch should be ok. If not, the switch will need replacement. check the wires to starter and see if you have power when car is switched on, do this first! good-day! if it cranks but does not start. check to see if spark and fuel, and check all fuses also.
No lights come on. It doesnt have any life at all when i turn the key on!
check this site out it will tell in better detail--www.custompistols.com/cars/articles/ignition. good-day ! heres another site. minimopar.knizefamily.net/electrical-powerfeed

SOURCE: okay, thanks for reply earlier...here's more info...maybe you can help
the valve cover seals like to leak and fill up the spark plug tubes with oil. so 1st thing, you should pull the spark plug boots to check, the pull and inspect the spark plugs.
next.
pull spark plug boot off of the #1 spark plug. Insert a new spark plug into the spark plug boot. Ground the plug to the engine.
Crank the engine and look for spark across the electrodes of the spark plug.
then reconnect the boot the the #1 plug, pull the boot off of the #2 plug repeat the test, then do #3 and #4.
if all cylinders have no spark/ weak spark, its most likely a bad coil pack.
to check the coil pack:
Measure the primary resistance of each coil. At the coil, connect an ohmmeter between the B+ pin and the pin corresponding to the cylinders in question. Resistance should be 0.45 - 0.65 ohm.
----------------------------------
Measure the secondary resistance of the coil between the towers of each individual coil. Secondary resistance should be
11k - 14k ohms

you have a bad crankshaft sensor. replace the crank sensor.
dodges and gm's are known for this problem.

I guess my problem was the new crank sensor has failed.
Replace crank sensor again , it has fixed the problem.
Not too sure if this was any help or not.

This could be a lot of things, CV joint, tie rods, wheel bearings, even loose lug nuts.

"Timing Belt Skipped One Tooth or More" To fix this I would recommend replacing the timing belt as soon as possible.
