Car has been running great. Came out from work and it wouldn't start. Appears light may have been left on. Tried to jump and it cranks but won't turn over. Took out battery and it tested bad. Replaced with new one and it cranks but will not start. Any thoughts on what could be wrong?
Use a scan too, to reset the ECM

hey buddy the same that happeanto me, its your alternator dont make any one give you the run a around alternator for sure. i got my alternator from gb500 it cost about $160.00 after tax.

Ive got a Jetta 2 CSI and had the same trouble. I then discovered that my coldstart packed up, wich you cant even get at the agents anymore. dealer only ,might get away with a re programme of the chipped key ,worst case scenario is a new ECU

I would first have the alternator checked by an auto electrician to ensure it is working correctly and is providing the correct volume of current. It may be faulty and when driving you will be drawing battery power instead of power from the alternator to run the electrics. This will drain the battery.
Alternators do not last forever and if you are still running the original unit it is likely to be on it's last legs and you will need a replacement unit.

Check in the black power box under the hood. Pull cover off and there is a diagram explaining what is what. Check the ignition fuse and fuel pump relay.
