Keeps needing antifreeze and no leaks

My pickup continually needs anti freeze. It does not leak anything on the ground while parked. When the engine is running if I rev the engine and look at the tail pipe there is no smoke or anything. When the engine almost returns to the idel mode a little white smoke come out of the pipe. I thin the intake manifold gaskets are leaking. Can a dumb guy like me replace these gaskets at home in my garage?

You didnt state year make or model of it. But if you take pictures and mark everything you should be fine.when taking things apart be aware of bolt lengths.take cardboard and trace the part pop a screwdriver thrue the bolt holesand put the bolts thrue cardboard cutout.

replace the gasket but I would take it to a shop if you are not familiar with that engine the injection system will have to come out and it is delicate.

it could but- check passenger side front where heater core line go into manifold right behind alternator the hose line is connected by a press clip into an alloy fitting this fitting gets eaten away by anti freeze and hose angle pulls back on fitting the part is $18 at dealer and is screwed into manifold use caution if ur r going to replace at very edge of aluminum manifold---and check ur water pump bolts the 2 longer ones should have a lock sealant on them they bolt in thru a water jacket

SOURCE: My 1999 2-Door Tahoe 5.7L 4x4 is leaking antifreeze

There is a water port there. So it is possible. If you try cleaning the area as good as possible and then start the truck and let it run and watch that area. More then likely it is the intake gasket.

SOURCE: Anti-freeze leaking from either the freeze plug or

Without knowing what year or engine size is, I/m just guessing??????? But the 3.1L engines are FAMOUS for intake maniflod gaskets leaking. Look where the intake bolts to the heads. A freeze plug is in the block. Freeze plugs dont leak unless you have been running pure water or weak/cheap anti-freeze. They will rust out from behind and its BIG BUCKS to replace them all.

How do i know if freeze plugs blew or not?

If there was no antifreeze , and the water in the block froze and expanded the not only did the freeze plugs blew, but you may have cracked your block. Freeze ports are cast in the engine block when made and the plugs for the holes are usually made of zinc alloy and pressed into the block. When the water does not have the proper mix of antifreeze, it expands and forces out the plugs to prevent block cracking. If it is real cold for extended periods of time it may not be enought room for the water to expand and it cracks the block. water on the ground and sometimes the plug that looks like a over sized bottlecap are evidence. If you attemp to start you car you will permantly damage your engine..

My 04 Tahoe is blowing out white smoke when I crank it. I seem to be using a lot of oil and antifreeze but I don't see a leak on the ground. Will it harm the engine if I continue to drive?

yes you can cause mechanical damage. have the motor checked out. the reason you don`t see anything on the ground is your burning oil and water, not to mention the excessive emissions that you can be fine for plus your doing damage to the catalytic converter.

I have a 1997 Chevy lumina anti freeze is leaking from picture what might it be

It might be an antifreeze leak. Does the engine running hot? Does it stink? Are there drip marks on the ground below the engine? Then it's probably a leak.

Hope this helps.

My 07 impala is losing anti freeze but nobody can find a leak anywhere how can i solve this problem

if cant find any spots on the ground an you're still losing anti-freeze, from my experience its always been the headgasket, if the headgasket isnt fully blown out your car will seem like its running fine an burn the antifreeze up during the combustion stroke of the engine, or it could be leaking onto the exhaust. check to see if theres any puddles of anti-freeze on top of the engine an check for leaks around the heads. if there is no puddles of leaks it could be your antifreeze is leaking into the engine an burning up during the combustion stroke

I have antifreeze leaking out of the car and car is running hot cause the anti freeze keeps leaking out where could it be coming from?

If the antifreeze is leaking externally, most likely places are from the radiator or hoses, from the water pump bearing, from engine gasket.

No heat , antifreez leak not visable...

A car this new should have a warranty right? the only other place for anti-freeze to go is through a blown headgasket into your oil. Pull out your oil dipstick and make sure it is not milky in color. If not check behind the engine and see if any coolant lines going into the firewall are leaking. When inside the car do you smell steaming coolant(anti-freeze) or hear gurgling? The temp gauge that stays on is the overheat indicator?

I have a 1994 Honda accord ex. It is leaking antifreeze

If your antifreeze is leaking into your engine oil, it will destroy the engine quickly. Check the level of both. But...you need to get a pressure gauge on it to apply pressure to the cooling system to see where the coolant is going first. White smoke is a sign of coolant in the engine oil.

Antifreeze leaks out

this can be a defective water pump, a leaking radiator, a leaking cooling system hose or hoses, the heater core and other engine problems like core plugs, have the cooling system pressure tested, this will allow the technician to pinpoint the leak.
