My pickup continually needs anti freeze. It does not leak anything on the ground while parked. When the engine is running if I rev the engine and look at the tail pipe there is no smoke or anything. When the engine almost returns to the idel mode a little white smoke come out of the pipe. I thin the intake manifold gaskets are leaking. Can a dumb guy like me replace these gaskets at home in my garage?

IT IS MOST LIKELY THE INTAKE GASKET LEAKING THIS IS A COMMON PLACE ON OLDER MODELS.

replace the gasket but I would take it to a shop if you are not familiar with that engine the injection system will have to come out and it is delicate.

it could but- check passenger side front where heater core line go into manifold right behind alternator the hose line is connected by a press clip into an alloy fitting this fitting gets eaten away by anti freeze and hose angle pulls back on fitting the part is $18 at dealer and is screwed into manifold use caution if ur r going to replace at very edge of aluminum manifold---and check ur water pump bolts the 2 longer ones should have a lock sealant on them they bolt in thru a water jacket

There is a water port there. So it is possible. If you try cleaning the area as good as possible and then start the truck and let it run and watch that area. More then likely it is the intake gasket.

Without knowing what year or engine size is, I/m just guessing??????? But the 3.1L engines are FAMOUS for intake maniflod gaskets leaking. Look where the intake bolts to the heads. A freeze plug is in the block. Freeze plugs dont leak unless you have been running pure water or weak/cheap anti-freeze. They will rust out from behind and its BIG BUCKS to replace them all.
