Car hesitates when given gas

I am sorry but no, there are different codes some are P codes, some are B codes, and there are other ones, OBD 1 (84-96) systems could flash the check eng lite and give you codes, but they were just two numbers like 12. A typical OBD 2 code is like this P1546, this is a emission code. Kragen auto or any of the chain auto parts stores will read the codes for free.

Either the sensor on the air filter needs to be cleaned. Easy. I've done it myself. Or one of the sensors, before and after the catalytic converter, needs to be changed. difficult.

Hi. These are symptoms that represents poor fuel distribution. i recommend changing both the filter and fuel pump in this case. I would also inspect the entire injection system for fouled wiring or damaged housing(injector housings).
IF the spark plugs haven't been inspected or changed in 9 months, i would pull them for a visual inspection as well. replace the wires and plugs if they are not in a proper condition.
Last, i would add a fuel system cleaner to scrub the fuel lines and rid the system of any carbon deposits that may be present in the intake manifold.
Check the Intake manifold gaskets for damage.

i would check your fuel filter and air filter first if they are dirty then i would change them. and if it still does it then it might be one of the sensors on your throtttle body. like your tps sensor or the iac valve or it could be your mas sensor you can also clean these with some throttle body cleaner and mass air flow cleaner that you can pick up at any auto parts store
