2007 Dodge Nitro Tail Light Replacement

I have a 2010 Jeep which is a Dodge product that I went to install
Led lights in and put load resistors in and all that happened is the
blinkers flashed faster then they should. don't bother its a waste of time & energy the Factory lights are just as bright and bulbs are less expensive & easier to replace.

Purchase a replacement tail light for your vehicle. You can find a broad selection by visiting the website listed in Resources or by going to your local automotive parts store.
Locate the tail light. You can find it on the rear of your car, located on the left and right sides. The lens color will vary depending on the type of vehicle that you have, but in most cases it will be red and will have red lights that light up when you press the breaks.
Remove the screws that are located on the corners of the plastic lens and lift off the lens. You will now see the bulb.
Place the new tail light in the place where you removed the old tail light. Make sure that you are putting the new tail light on right-side up. The screws will not line up and the tail light will not fit properly if it is upside down.
Replace each one of the screws.

I changed the tail lights of my wife's suburban which is the same as yours some few weeks ago,here is how i did it myself,although i'm a mechanic but its not technical;

STEP1. Two screws inside the tail gate jam.
STEP 2. Pry with fingers or something that won't scratch the paint the tail light out (Forward). try not to break anything

STEP 3. Good thing is the bulbs are interchangeable an they have multiple filaments in them. I was able to swap mine around for some bulbs with unused filaments.

STEP 4 Check all lights after replacement of course. Don't want to make your brake lights work and then your turn signal not work.
Problem solved.

I am including a couple of illustrations to better help with this replacement.
You will first need toe open the tail gate. then next to the tail light on the inside edge where the tail gate meets the seal you will see to plastic screw covers ( if still there) or two screws. You will need to remove these two screws , once removed the tail light will come out by lightly pulling outwards. Then simply depress the thumb clip on the bulb holder and remove.

There are for Philip screws holding your tail light cover onto your dodge. Step 1: Just remove those screws and pull the cover off. Step 2: Remove the light bracket out of the cover and replace with a 1057 bulb.

Open the rear door and you will see 2 black, round, fasteners on each tailight where they meet the door when it's closed. You need to slide a thin screwdriver under the edge of these and pop them out. Then you will be able to remove the light assembly and and gain access to the light bulbs to change them out.

If none of local autoparts stock them, you'll have to go to dealer.

To Access The Brake Light Youll Need To Remove Carper Or Panel Opposite Of The Light. I Am Referring To The Inside Of The Vehicle Referred To As The Trunk Or Rear Storage. Once You Remove The Panel Or Carpet you Will Have Full Access To The Lights. Find The Light That Is Burnt Out By Turning On All The Lights From The Inside You Can See The Light In The Harness Not Working.
Next Grasp The Rear Of The Holder Twist And Pull.
A New Light Can Be Found At Any Auto Parts Store.

Tail light replacement is not as hard as it seems.
Tools needed:flat head screwdriver and a deep 5/32 socket(a pair of pliers will work).
Step 1: open trunk and pull back truck liner at tail light.There is a small button clip on liner.Use screwdriver to pop up the center of button clip,pull clip out of hole.
Step 2:You will see a black wire attached to the body of car with 2 white clips.Use screwdriver to pop clips off of studs.
Step 3:Remove the nuts from the studs and pull tail light assembly straight back away from car.The outer side of the light just snaps in and out of place.
Step 4:Turn light socket counter clockwise 1/3 turn and pull out.
Step 5:Pull bad bulb straight out and replace.Reverse steps to reassemble.
