How can i reach a torque setting of 305nm when my wrench only reaches a max of 200nm please any one help i am thinking that it can be done in 2 stages yes or no

It is possible to use a simple torque wrench extension bar, which fits onto the square drive of the torque wrench.

At the other end of the extension bar is a male square drive for the socket. This increases the leverage of the torque wrench by a ratio which is the total length of the wrench plus bar divided by the length of the torque wrench only. You multiply the torque reading by this ratio.
Note that NO increased torque is obtained by fitting an extension on the handle end of the torque wrench. The applied torque will still be the same as the torque wrench reading in this case.
Then there is a more expensive tool, a torque multiplier. These are often fitted to the output shafts of winches etc, and consist of a small gearbox which fits on the square drive of the torque wrench. On the other side is a male square drive for the socket.

They are geared in various multiplier ratios from 4:1 to as much as 40:1. On the gearbox casing is a reaction bar which is braced against something to keep it in place as the torque is applied.
They are expensive but you can hire them also.

NOTE: The rear wheel bearings are remowned on these cars for sticking to the stub axle quite badly, and often have to be forced off using a slide hammer on the drum, it is quite common to end up damaging the wheel bearing, so be prepared to replace this as well in this event

The torque for the front drive shaft and hub retaining nut is 155ft.lbs. But if you are on the metric system,
it's 210N.m . These specs are for both 1999 and 2001

Honestly you should search google. It is right there. the inner hub nut must be torqued to 59 Nm rotate the hub three times in each direction and then loosen the inner hub nut until it can be turned by hand, then again tighten the inner hub nut to 25 Nm. the lockwasher against the inner hub nut, it only goes in one way, it has a small inner tab that locates with the key way of the hub, this is between the threads. Once the lock washer is in the correct position, you can now install the outer hub nut, this outer nut must be torqued to 47 Nm, once you have tightened this outer nut, please once again check that the starting effort is correct.

The nut should be a conical locking style nut. 90 foot pounds is normal torque setting if it is a non self lock nut. Locking nuts are installed till fully seated

How to change wheel bearings on jaguar xj6 front 1996


Disconnect the vehicle battery ground lead.
Support the vehicle at the front and remove the appropriate wheel.
Remove brake caliper and disc assemblies see SRO 70 10
Note- Do not allow the caliper to hang by either harness or
flexible hose.

Pry off the hub grease cap
Remove and discard cotter pin
pull off castellated nut retainer
Remove the hub nut and bearing washer.
Carefully remove the hub assembly from the stub axle.

Pry the original seal from the spigot and discard.
remove the bearings and using a drift punch knock out the bearing cups.
Remove all traces of grease and dirt from the stub axle and back plate.
Note: the backing plate may be used to pull the inner bearing and seal if they stay on the stub shaft.
Press in the new bearing cups using a socket or other tool of the correct size to prevent damaging the new bearing cup or hub.
Note: Do not use bearing to press in the cup.
Pack the annular gaps of the oil seal lips with grease.
Wash the hub assembly thoroughly.
Ensure that the hub inner seal diameter is free of debris or damage and is lightly lubricated prior to assembly.
Only replace complete bearings, never cup or race in isolation.
Pack each race with approximately 4 ml of grease and position the inner race onto the stub axle.
Apply a smear of grease to hub inner surfaces and bearing cups. Assemble the hub to the stub axle followed by outer race, bearing washer and hub nut.
It is not necessary to fill the hub cavity with grease, merely protect from corrosion with a coat of lubricant. Seat the bearings by slightly tightening the hub nut whilst rotating the hub. Do not apply load without rotation.

Adjust End float. Set a Dial Test Indicator and adjust the hub nut to achieve the correct end float.

Without disturbing the end float setting, fit the castellated
nut retainer so that it aligns with both hub nut and stub axle drilling.
Secure nut retainer using a new cotter pin.

I have a 99 mazda protege, 1.6l engine, automatic transmission. I am changing the CV joints out and I need the torque specification for the axle spindle nut that connects the cv joint to the wheel hub.

What are the torque settings for landcruiser hub and axle assembly


This is for the hub....front hub:

  1. Install the hub with a new gasket and tighten the mounting nuts to 23 ft. lbs. (31 Nm).
  2. Install the bolt and washer and tighten it to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  3. Coat the inner hub splines with grease.
  4. Make sure the control handle on the cover is still at FREE (if not automatic), position a new gasket in the cover and install the cover so that the pawl tabs are lines up with the non-toothed portions of the hub body. Tighten the mounting nuts to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
This is for the rear hub:

To install:
  1. Place the hub on the axle housing and install the outer bearing.
  2. Install the lock plate with the lock plate tab positioned into the groove of the axle housing.
  3. Install and tighten the adjusting nut with the special tool used during removal.
  4. Torque the nut to 43 ft. lbs. (59 Nm). Rotate the hub a few times and retorque the adjusting nut to 43 ft. lbs. (59 Nm).
  5. Loosen the adjusting nut until the hub can be turned by hand.
  6. Tighten the nut a small amount and check the amount of pressure required to rotate the hub using a spring tension gauge.
  7. The recommended rotational torque is 5.7-12.6 lbs. (1984-88: 0.9-7.3 lbs.). Tighten or loosen the adjusting nut as required to obtain this reading.
  8. Align one of the axle housing slots with one of the adjusting nut slots. Install the lock screws into the holes of the adjusting nut which are at right angles to the aligned slots. Torque the lock screws to 35-60 inch lbs.
  9. Recheck the rational torque and install the axle shaft using a new gasket.
  10. Install the wheels and lower the vehicle.
