Was driving down the road when problem first started. the check engin light came on so i took it into the shop. the mecinac told me it was the Crank position sensor so i changed that out and my car was running fine. i took my car to get gas and filled the tank as soon as i was leaving the gas station the problem started again and was even worse. any ideas on what i might need to be looking for?? The car jumps and hesitates when trying to drive and it fells like there is no power when i give the car gas. when i do give it gas there is a rich gas smell.
Check fuel filter and also check if O2 sensors are working on exhaust

Clogged Catalytic Converter. What happens is as you push down harder on the accelerator you force more gas into the system causing a slightly richer mixture and more exhaust flow is neccessary. The easiest way to look for a clogged cat is when it's dark out take it for a ride causing it perform it's problem look under the vehicle if the cat is literally glowing red hot you either have a clogged cat or an extremely rich fuel mixture.

Aaron, I had the same problem. It is the most expensive part of course the computer. I replaced everything as well till I replaced it. They are remanufactured and have had problems with them as well. I am on my third one now at 200k miles. Oh and by the way it does not show up on the diagnostic check. Good luck

I would check to be sure that the timing chain hasn't jumped at all ..

if it only does it when you start it cold its not the converter when a converter is going bad or restriced it acts worse the long the car runs i would replace the coolant temp senor for the fuelinjection system it won't set a code but it can read the wrong temp when you start up cold it could be telling the computer that the motor is warmer then it really is this will make the motor run lean causing the hesitation . You said you did a tune up i hope you put the factory plugs back in putting pefomance plugs in a computer controled car and not reprogaming the ECU can also cause a hestation.

Put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off (3) times without starting the jeep, leaving it in the on position count the (1) flashing indicator Light, Eg: (5) flashes, Then there will be a pause, then it may flash (3) times, this is a code #53. Keep your Eye on them and write them down. If you should miss (1) Repeat as many times as needed, Info: A #55 means there are no codes!!
