check air filter < clean or replace > check air mass, replace ,
check air Vacuum hoses if remove or cut out .check solenoid valve vacuum if working by S.w on and off (click sound when on )

will not idle runs at 2500 rpm and drops down to 1000 rpm the back up

your catalytic converter may be clogged, if it is bolted on loosen the bolts and pry it away then try to start. if the power returns then you need to replace the catalytic converter. also is it an automatic or standard transmission? If automatic the torque converter is stalling at to low of rpm and needs to be replaced.
check the converter by having someone hold the gas down while you feel the flow out of the tailpipe it will get to a point and decrease it should push more with the acceleration if it dont change the catilatic converter
these kind of behavior generally happens,when the tappets clearance is less than the specified .that means when the engine heats up valves elongates,and the gap reduces,resulting valve leakage,improper combustion,power drop, emission, missing etc....set the tappets
Check your gas cap, it may not be sealing properly that's why your getting the VSC light on the dashboard. Eventualy the light will go out after you fix. Good luck.
Blocked gas filter is most noticeable at HIGH SPEEDS.
If it looses power at only 3500 or so rpm's, most likely culprit is the throttle position sensor also known as TPS.
Does ur engine burn oil? Could be low compression, but unlikely. Could alsobe, but unlikely, the coil giving a weak spark.
Whats ur mileage and is it an automatic tranny or manual? Give more details please as to what ur car does, IE sputters, jerks, weird noises, engine revs high but car doesn't go faster, etc.
