1988 dodge dynasty blinkers won't work at all

None of the blinkers will work. You can hear clicking when the 4-way switch is turned on, but nothing lights up. If it were a bulb issue they wouldn't all go out at once, so I'm thinking fuses or some electrical part? Could use some help figuring out how to fix this myself. Thanks!

Hi Anonymous. I have looked at another forum that suggests checking the flasher relay Turn Signal Flasher Relay On bracket near fuse/relay block. go here for a picture of what this fuse relay block looks like

Get a 12V DC probe to test the voltage around the car and at the globes. Get them at auto shops

SOURCE: running lights stop working 2002 dodge ram

This happened on my '05 2500 Dodge diesel last winter. After spending a full day checking wiring, fuses, relays and the headlight switch I determined the problem was with the (FCU) the front control unit which is mounted with 4 screws to the outward side of the fuse box. When i asked the dealer if they had one in stock they said they usually kept 6 on the shelf,so I figured if they stock this many then they must be a common problem. This unit cost a bit over $300.00. When i installed it I still had no front or rear park/running lights so I started to remount the fuse box and look for another problem and BINGO I felt the relay click and the lights came on,now I'm thinking did this unit need a few seconds to reset or was this just a flukie fix.Well the lights worked fine for 3 months and the same problem happened again. This time I installed my old FCU just to see if the new one went bad but still no lights, but as I was moving the fuse box around again I felt/heard the relay click and the lights came on.

So I took the fuse box out of the truck and completly dismantled it (dealer says a new one costs $700.00).These boxes snap together and then there are 3 points where the plastic is melted (studs) and these need to be drilled out to separate the top and bottom halves, then the box is easy to take apart. There is a printed circuit board inside that the FCU plugs into with about 40 small connectors and there is where the problem was.One of the lead circuits on the board had corroded and lost connection.I just soldered in a piece of jumper wire and that cured my problem although this probably could be repaired properly by someone with circuit board experience I was happy with my mickey mouse repair for now.

This may sound complicated but the fuse box can be removed from the truck in 10 minutes(honestly) it took me longer to make a sketch of the harness plug in locations than it did to remove the fuse box.Once you have the box out it takes about 20 minutes to drill the (3) plastic studs and split the top and bottom sections (there are no springs on ball bearings or other surprises to fly out as you separate the 2 parts) then if you don't feel you have the skills to check the board and do the repairs you can have an electronics shop do an inspection.

A couple of things that puzzled me while trying to find this problem was that the dash lights still worked, the chime that rings to tell you you have left your lights on still chimed even with only the park lights on,and there was no power at both park light fuses.

When i found out the price of these fuse boxes I automatically thought I'd get one cheap at the local junk yard..big surprise, they said they can't find enough of them to keep up with the demand and also said they often get calls from people saying that their fuse box burned up,so appearently there is a problem with dodge truck fuse boxes!! When I questioned the service manager at my dodge dealer about these things going bad he agreed and said they have replaced many of them.

Hope this helps and I didn't scare you too bad.

SOURCE: 2001 dodge neon tail lights inop

looking at your schematics and , you say tail lights don't work , you didn't mention if front parking lights and license plate lights are working , they all come from the same source , a black /yellow wire , a good clue if front work and rear don't , please advise .if fronts work then you have a open circuit somewhere between junction S118 (near breakout for left headlamp) and rear sockets.

Ignition switch on dodge dynasty?

I had a similar problem years ago. As long as your dash lights come on, it's likely you can use an external pushbutton switch to run the starter. There are likely just 4 wires on the ignition switch. Power from the battery, and switched to:
accessories
main car stuff (dash lights, ignition, signals, etc)
starter.
splice in wires from battery and starter to new switch, and you're good to go. This worked for years on my old car.

Blinkers don't work on my 1991 dodge dynasty. Fuse isn't burned out . Hazzards work and so do brakes

this seems like it is likely an issue with your blinker switch (the handle on your steering column) or with a relay. Since the Hazard lights work, I would assume that your relay is probably fine, so it is probably the switch.
The blinker switch lever on your steering column is a complex system that, due to its' complexity, does have a habit of breaking after 20 years of use. You can probably find a replacement at a junk yard for much less money than buying a new one at an auto-parts store ... but you might find that you have replaced it just to have it go out again. If you plan to continue driving the vehicle for a few more years, I recommend getting yourself a new switch unit. If you are mechanically inclined and would like to replace it yourself, I recommend picking up a Haynes manual, as it will have the location of every screw in the steering column that you will need to remove to access the part, as well as pictures and step-by-step directions to make sure you are completing the repair correctly.
If you are not totally comfortable working on the issue yourself, it would be a good idea to bring the car in to a mechanic to have the diagnosis confirmed and resolved. This will cost a bit more, but it will assure that the repair is done right (and that I gave you the correct diagnosis -- without my hands in your car, I can't be sure that the switch is the problem ... it just seems like the most likely problem).

No brake lights of blinkers 1990 dodge dynasty

While not likely, it is possible that the light bulbs in both sides are have bad filaments. Turn on ignition key (but don't start engine). Then turn on parking lamps (first detent or "click" on headlamp switch). Walk around car and look for illumination on front parking lamps and rear tail lights. Turn on the right turn signal. Are those (right hand) lamps now changing brilliance? Try the left turn signal in the same manner. Are those (left hand) front and rear lights changing briiliance? Take note of any positions that did NOT change briliance when the turn signals were activated. If NONE changed briliance, you either have a bunch of bad bulbs (unlikely) or a bad flasher (more likely) or a bad turn signal switch (most likely) or perhaps wiring problems (possible if the car has been in a collision or has been "worked on" by some "non-expert" mechanic). Check the action of the emergency flasher control switch located on the steering column (facing up). Pushing it in (down) should result in the button going to two different heights alternately (low, high, low, high). You could just have bad flashers or corroded flasher contacts! Good luck!
