The a/c is not the issue You have the usual players Old clogged radiator Bad thermostat Bad water pump Fans that don't come on Head gasket issues & more Have to check & test it all
no its not all related but i would advise you trade it in quick as you have a problem if its overheating again and with knowing if you had the heads skimmed and all the rest of it then i cannot say why its now overheating again unless their is something else wrong but again i would advise you ask a local mechanic to check it out as it could be a faulty rad or the water pump with a fibre impeller on a metal shaft and its spinning .
There is a thermostatic switch. This is located in the radiator 'bottom' tank or near the thermostat. It has two wires attached to it. Disconnect these terminals, and with the ignition on, touch the wire terminals together. If the fan starts, the thermostatic fan is faulty and needs replacement. If it does not turn now, reconnect everything and then check the relay and this can only really be done by fitting a known working relay. If this still does not fix the fault, you will have to start tracing and inspecting wires and connectors.
Check to see if the intake for your heater core/ airconditioner is blocked. Its sometimes located on the passenger side of the car. Below the windshield. Sometimes there is kind of a grill below the window behind the hood. Make sure its not clogged full of leaves etc. You need outside airflow through that hole to go through your heater /airconditioner core to give you heat in winter, cool air in summer.
The heater may not work because of a bad thermostat, low coolant, or a bad sensor at the engine. It can also be a bad resistor valve under the dash. The resistor valve is connected to a wire plug on the blower motor under the dashboard. It needs to be replaced. Th AC may need to be refilled with refrigerant or the compressor may be bad.
It could be the thermostat (simple fix), check this first, Then i would go for the water pump but worst scenario would be the head gasket gone, Have a pressure test done on the car to eliminate this, Hope this helps
