Hi from uk not too sure on elantra but will try to help? if car is hatchback ? lift up hatch and look at the water drain channel alongside lamp? if there are 3x screws? unscrew and lift lamp off then unclup bulb/lamp board from lens bulbs are bayonet fitting if saloon then open boot look to rear of lamp in boot for either clip on panel or carpet covering lamp rear remove and look for some kind of nylon head screw bolt/s or 10 mm nuts? that my hold the lamp in place to body? or you may ?find the bulb/lamp board is simply a clip in to the lens assy as 1st example ? in that case just unclip and change bulb/s with no need to remove lens assy with a little patience you will succeed hope this helps

Hello riggs791. My name is Roger and I will help you. Raise the lift gate. In the rain drip rail you will find two screws through the lens to the body. Remove the two screws. Carefully pull on the lens. What you are removing to get to the tail lamp bulb is the entire lamp. The front outside edge of the lens has two lock in clips. Once you have the lamp loose turn it over and unlock the socket and replace the light. Reverse to reinstall the lamp.

Open the trunk and remove the fabric insert located by the tail light. There should be 2 plastic nuts toward the center-most part, one above the other about 6 inches apart (One above the other). Then on the quarter panel side (where the light comes to a point on the outside) there should be just one. Making a total of three nuts to remove it. On the plug there should be a small plastic red clip. Slide it aside and squeeze the tab to remove the plug. After you pull the light out you will see two silver dollar sized circles that hold the light bulb in. Twist this to remove the light bulb. There's also a third smaller one for the smaller bulb.

you need to remove the 2 torx screws (accessable when you open the tail gate). once they are out, you are able to pull the whole tail lamp assembly out of its position, and then turn the socket counter clockwise to remove it from the assembly. replace the bulb, and reassemble. good luck!

Same issue. Following instructions in the manual but it seems to jump from removing the mounting screws to removing the bulb without describing how to gain access to the bulb by removing the cover the mounting screws were holding on. There must be a trick too it. Probably something so simple it's easily overlooked.
