1984 ford f150 running erratic.

My truck will barely stay running at times when it's idling. It seemsto have a miss also. I have change plugs, wires, rotor and distributorcap. Also It recently got an exhaust leak and it will stink up the cab.Does that mean its leaking close to the motor? Please tell me how tomake it run better. It's a straight six motor

I'm not sure how to adjust the choke. I did see three vacuum lines that are plugged with screws. I need a better detailed diagram for the vacuum lines any Ideas?

I would really appreciate a diagram. And component descriptions and locations if you have them. I don't have a lot of experience with this. I will try that search as well. Thanks
    you need my Email address.

Check and adjust your choke accordingly, also since you have given it a tune up you should adjust your timing if it needs adjustment. Also check for any vacuum leaks. As for the exhaust leak I would look along the exhaust manifold and then along the exhaust pipe under the cab, check where the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe connect as there should be a donut or flange in there and it could be deteriorating. Good luck and remember to rate all the solutions you get, thanx.

I can go to my shop later today and get you a diagram of the vacuum lines, or you can try searching on google for a factory service manual, for your make and model.

1990 f150 larriat. V-8, I believe the engine should idle around 750 rpm. I tried using a timing light and adjust the timing but the it would not work with advancing the timing. Is there anything else...

YOU CAN PUT THE TIMING BACK TO ORIGINAL POSITION! ON TOP OF THE MOTOR! IF IT IS CARBURATED, YOU CAN ADJUST THE IDLE SCREW TO RAISE IDLE! IT WILL BE A SMALL SCREW LOCATED BEHIND THE THROTTLE PLATE! ON FUEL INJECTED MOTOR, IT IS LOCATED UNDER THE COVER WHERE THE THROTTLE CABLE GOES INTO! YOU WILL SEE A SMALL SCREW BEHIND THE THROTTLE PLATE! THE PLATE IS A RECTANGULAR PLATE THAT YOU CAN MOVE TO INCREASE THE IDLE BY HAND! I OWN A 93'!

92 Ford F150 4.9L. starts good, idles rough, dies at slow speeds

4.9 litre ?? you having a laugh its a 10ton truck engine not a pick up -global warming machine, remove the pump/sender unit and check the gauze filter also look inside tank for a something floating around ,i think the idles is not a related problem to the vehicle losing power but their is a possibility you could have a problem with the little vac operated thing on the fuel injector line that allows the fuel through only when the engine is running

2000 ford f150 only misses when in when idle

check the plug wires for wear and the ohm rating as well. the wires should be 28,000 ohms per foot
If over thats ok if under 24,000 you will get a miss when idling

F150 97 4.2 V6. Runs fine at idle but when in

its posible that the inside lining of the tank is coming off and plugging the fuel pump strainer,or at least thats what happened to my f150,and its not getting enough fuel pressure.

Miss firing

could be a wire crossed, or it's out of time. since you used motorcraft plugs, did you set them properly to the correct gap? replacing plugs without gapping them can cause the sluggishness, out of time can cause the mis-fires and rough running.

check the timing as for the exhaust leak then there is no way to tell where its leaking from unless you check the entire exhaust till you find the hole
