What would cause a 93 Cadillac to die while driving 65+ mph, and then not restart?

When the car would start, it would idle really high, and it would make a loud clicking noise until the gear was shifted out of park. While driving down the highway, the car died. Tried jumping the car, didnt work. Car had to be pulled by a z71 truck to a gas station, where we hooked the jumper cables to another vehicle, it would turn over, just not start. We added more fuel to the car, and tried starter fluid, still would not start.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

I am not sure if the engine blew due to the high idle and engine noise but lets start with the basics. From what you told me, this is not a fuel problem, you used starting fluid and did not start , so that eliminates the fuel pump. this leaves a spark problem or bad engine.
You will need to test for spark, if there is spark then you may have engine damage.remove a spark plug wire from a spark plug and insert a screwdriver into the boot and place it near a good metal ground, then as you watch have someone crank engine while you look for spark. check a few cylinders and let me know what you get.
If there is no spark then remove the distributor cap and crank engine to make sure the distributor is spinning, if it spins then remove the control module from the distributor and have it tested. you may have a bad module.Note; bad module is only if there is no spark.
If you have spark and we know you tried fuel then the next step is to look for internal engine damage. this is done first by doing a compression test on all cylinders. hope this helps, let me know the results to your testing so i can help you find the problem.

No power when I push the gas

check for plugged exhaust system, dirty air filter, vacuum leaks, those have a mile of vacuum hoses. Also, check for bad fuel pump.

Engine rev high by its self

The most common causes of this are a engine vacuum leak and a sticking idle speed control air bypass valve.

Set timing mode 1995 cadillac deville

Depending on the trouble codes, it may be the ECM. (computer)
You can have the car scanned for codes or attempt it yourself.
The "set timing mode" is the section of the computer program that you access to change the base timing. It should not show up on the display unless you access it.

So i have a cadillac STS when i start it up its like it is accelerating on its own without stepping on the the gas but what i am concern is when i place the car in drive D it knocks really bad a loud sound...

Sounds like a vacuum leak. this will affect the idle causing it to idle high but with no power (at idle) so almost dies at idle in drive, (under resistance) The knocking is likely your exhaust pipe shaking and hitting under car, cos of the engine shake.
Look for a vacuum tube hanging loose from around the intake area. Maybe trim off stretched end and reattach. May be able to hear it with engine running.

I have a 1990 olds 88 royale 3.8 Just replaced the fuel pump, and both fuel filter. A week later coming to a stop the car dies. It's seems every time I approach a stop and get under 25 mph it dies....

Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Changed the battery, the car will start but dies immediately and will not idle. Will keep running as long as you are pressing on the gas but again dies as soon as you let of the gas.

Sounds like it needs to go through a drive cycle. After the computer has been deprived of power for ten or fifteen minutes, it will need to relearn the paramiters of the electronics for the engine. Take it on a 10-15 mile drive with out stops (the high way) at about 55-65 mph and it should be ok. If not you may other problems.

93 seville sts: engine revs, speed drops,

Probably not the ECM. Have it scanned. IF is is a 93 it means you have a 4.9 motor. They have a solenoid idle cotroll that could be malfuntioning, there could be a problem with the throttle position sensor, or maf, egr, mass air flow, You get the picture. The light is on to tell you what is happening. Most Autozones and Advances will scan it for free. Good luck.

Engine shuts down on deceleration

Well 145K is alot of miles, catera's are not that reliable especially after 100K. It sounds like you could have multiple issues but take it to a mechanic asap before it becomes unfixable.
