I need to know what a starter for a 66 Mustang 289 looks like & where is it located

Go to your local auto parts store and ask for a Haynes repair manual for your car. It will provide you with the information you are looking for as well as how to successfully remove and replace your starter.

You could also use your computer and join "alldatadiy". It costs about the same as the Haynes manual and will provide specific details for this as well as other repairs. The advantage to alldata is that you can get the info right away whereas you may have to order the book and wait a few days for it.

I'm trying to locate my starter, but am not 100% sure where it is. I'm trying to find some sort of illustration of where exactly it is.

The starter is on the backside of the engine between the firewall and engine. If you get underneath it look up from the passenger side of the support that goes front to back and you should see it there. There are 2 bolts if i remember right one threads into the starter itself and the other has a nut behind the solenoid if I rmember right

Where is the starter motor located in 2001 corolla

The Toyota Corolla E11 series's starting system consists of the battery, the starter motor, the starter solenoid and the electrical circuit connecting the components. The solenoid is mounted directly on the starter motor. The solenoid/starter motor assembly is installed on the upper part of the engine, next to the transmission bellhousing.

Trying to replace the crankshaft position sensor on a 2001 olds intrigue and cannot locate it. Where is it?

Hello suewagner.
The crank sensor is mounted above the starter motor on the firewall side of the engine. The sensor picks up the signal direct off of the crankshaft through a machined hole in the engine block.
I have removed them without dropping the starter but learned that in most cases it is easier to drop the starter down to access it.
Here is a diagram for you.

There you are, hope this helps you.
Take care,

2001 mustang gt,all access. work fully charged

I would suspect the starter solenoid has failed.

A starter solenoid (or starter relay) is the part of an automobile which relays a large electric current to the starter motor, which in turn sets the engine in motion. In many vehicles the solenoid also engages the starter pinion with the ring gear of the engine.

The starter solenoid receives a large electric current from the car battery and a small electric current from the ignition switch. When the ignition switch is turned on, a small electric current is sent to the starter solenoid. This causes the starter solenoid to close a pair of heavy contacts, thus relaying a large electric current to the starter motor, which in turn sets the engine in motion. The starter motor is an electric motor that initiates piston motion in a car's internal combustion engine before it can power itself.

2001 Mustang will not start. Most excesories work but engine will not crank. When key is twisted to start position all it does is click.

Check the battery terminals for lose connections.
Check the starter motor, it could be the solenoid switch.
