SOURCE: 2001 dodge dakota crank no start

Just had that problem w/ my 01 Dekota, it was the resistor that used to be mounted on the firewall and easy to get to but that is now mounted low on the back of the engine jammed into a bey tight position. I couldn't get to it myself, so ended up taking it to neighborhood garage. Cost me about $150

SOURCE: Trouble Code 3255

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya!

1. Cycle the ignition key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds. To cycle the ignition key ON means to turn it only as far as it takes to get the radio to come on. It does not mean to turn the engine on.

2. Count the number of times the "check engine" lamp on the instrument panel flashes on and off. The number of flashes represents the code. There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. Longer pauses separate individual codes. For example, flash-flash-flash [pause] flash-flash represents the code 32.

A code of "55" represents end of error codes. If this is all you get then no error codes are stored in the computer. This is the normal condition for a neon.
CODE Description of Trouble Code
11 Timing belt skipped 1 tooth or more from initial learned value, Intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor, No crank reference signal detected during engine cranking
12 Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles
13 No change in MAP from start to run
14 MAP sensor voltage too low
15 No vehicle speed sensor signal
17 Closed loop temp not reached or engine cold too long
21 02s sensor problem (oxygen sensor), upstream or down stream
22 Engine coolant temp sensor out of range
23 Intake air temp sensor out of range
24 Throttle Position sensor out of range
25 Idle air control motor circuits, target idle not reached (+/- 200),vacuum leak found
27 Injector control circuit
31 Evap purge flow monitor failure or evap solenoid circuit
32 EGR system failure
33 A/C clutch relay circuit
34 Speed control Solenoid circuits
35 Rad Fan control relay circuit
37 Torque converter clutch solenoid CKT or park/neutral switch failure
41 Generator field not switching properly
42 Fuel pump relay control ckt, Auto shutdown relay control ckt, No ASD relay output voltage at PCM, Fuel level sending unit volts out of range, Fuel level unit No change over miles
43 Multiple/ single cylinder misfire
44 Battery temp sensor volts out of range
46 Charging system voltage too low
51 Fuel system lean
52 Fuel system rich
53 Internal control failure
54 No Cam signal at PCM
55 End of error messages (If you get this only, no errors were found)
62 PCM failure SRI mile not stored
63 PCM Failure EEPROM write denied
64 Catalytic Converter Efficiency Failure
65 Power steering switch failure

So in your case, you are getting error 3255 right? so you are getting error 32 EGR system failure and 55 which is no other error found.

I hope you get this sorted out.
Have a great day sir.

I have a 1990 dodge dakota sport with a 2.5 it stalls randomly and wont start until it sits for a few minutes. when it does die i still have fuel but no spark. all ignition parts have been replaced i.e....

Every engine has to have a way to know where the cylinders are and thus when to fire the spark plugs. Since your engine does not have a crankshaft sensor, the only means that the onboard computer has to know where the crankshaft is would be the sensor in the base of the distributor. This sensor monitors the position of the camshaft and thus can ascertain the position of the crankshaft as well. This, or the computer itself is the most likely culprit if you are failing to get spark.

Im getting code P01391 but don't know what it is?

P1391 is Electronic Brake Control rough road data not usable.
The data the computer is reading from the wheel sensors (maybe) is out of normal range.
I would clear the code and see if it returns.

92 dodge dakota 5.2 4x4 won't stay running, hard

What fault codes do you have? to check for fault codes using the check engine light blink method do the following, turn the key to run and then off, then to run and then off, then to run and watch the check engine light, count the blinks, there will be a pause and then more blinks, that is the code(s) So lets say it blinks 2 times and then 5 times, that is code 25. Google the code or codes under the heading: "Dodge OBD1 fault codes"

Gets gas gets spark but don't start. new fuel

1. does it turn over? if so, strong, or weak? 2. did you replace the fuel filter? 3. coil packs, or distributor (pack(s) can be tested) if distributed check cap and rotor, replace coil, but first check starter relay - 4. Check all ignition fuses, starter fuse - (along with relay{above}) 5. Check all connections from battery - positive, negative etc.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad cab SLT 4x4 that won't start. The engine will turn over but, as soon as I release the key, it shuts off. The ABS and BRAKE dash lights stay on.

It could be a cam or crank sensor. Have someone plug a OBD II reader in and pull all the codes.
That will give you some idea.
Please let me know what you find.
