I would start by checking the fuel pressure and volume you may have a weak pump.

It wolud be best if you checked it when it was cold and low on gas. when its not starting. Some pumps will not act up all the time and may check ok.

2000 blazer having trouble cold starting in the morning. it's almost like it's not getting fuel to turn over...it feels like it wants to start but putter and turns off. mostly happens when the car is cold...

Have you the vehicle tuned up lately? Bad spark plugs will cause hard starting in cold weather also, the fuel filter could be plugged or it may have moisture in it. I guess, I would have those items checked and also, have the fuel pressure checked, the pump may be getting weak.

My blazer has a new fuel filter, egr valve and

As a quick test,fill-up the tank and do not top off.

Monitor the starting problem.

If you're starting OK until BELOW 1/3 of the tank then it's a weak/failing fuel pump.

Hard start on cold mornings; replaced plugs but did not fix; fuel filter?

If the vehicle runs normally otherwise, your fuel filter is likely not the problem. A plugged fuel filter would likely cause misfiring under load, such as when going uphill.

Make sure, by the way, that you do not touch the gas pedal when starting. That could make it hard to start.

Old fashioned cars used a choke to feed it more fuel for a cold start. Modern cars use a computer to feed the fuel injectors more fuel on a cold start, and rely on a sensor or two to know that it's cold.

Couple of possibilities here:

a) Has the check engine light been on? If you have a bad sensor, such as oxygen, throttle position, or coolant temp sensor, the computer may have an error code stored in it's memory about this.

b) How many miles on the vehicle? Some other problems could be leaky injectors, leaky injector 0-rings, or intake manifold air leaks, all making it difficult to start when cold.

A fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail would tell you if a leaky injector is causing the fuel pressure to drop....then a cold start would be difficult if there is no pressure in the system.

If there is a leaky o-ring or intake manifold, the vehicle will typically misfire and/or light a check engine light.

1995 JIMMY HARD TO START & SOMETIMES WON'T.

Hi: Have owned 9 Blazers and Jimmy's. have never heard of a cold start switch on a Jimmy. If the engine is fireing I would rule out the coil for now. What you are describing sounds to me like low fuel pressure, if the pressure is not around 60 PSI then the injectors will not function correctly. If you have ever driven the vehicle for a while, stopped somewhere and it wouldn't start unril it has sat for a while then chances are the problem is the fuel pump located in the fuel tank.
