Dome light not turning off now wont start???

Ok first the dome light would not turn off.. so we disconnected the battery..now the hazzard lites r flashing n wont turn off n the car wont start..its a 1995 jeep grand cherokee limited.please help i need my car..thanks firebirdkat

    WOW WOW WOW THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH..IT WORKED ALSO GOT THE DOME LIGHTS OFF..YOU LEARN SOMETHING EVERYDAY..ONLY REASON I DONT KNOW THESE THINGS IS BECAUSE ITS THE NEWEST CAR WE OWN..MY OTHER CAR IS A 69 FIREBIRD..NO BELLS N WHISTLES..LOL THANKS AGAIN..FIREBIRDKAT7

use the VOM, tight and clean every plug or connector, and clean it . DISCONNECT THE + SIDE OF BATTERY.

Brake lights & Hazzard lights don't work; fuse ok... High mounted center brake light works... Turn signals work...suspect problem is multifunction lever Power drain to battery constant...2...
As for the brake lights push brake pedal down while pushing on and wiggling the hazard switch.If the brake lights come on then replace the multi-function switch.

TRY TO START. DASH LITES GO OUT AND NO SOUND FROM STARTER TRYINGTO ENGAGE theft lite appears says car wont start can a bad alternator cause this problem?
No it wont. But disconnecting the battery or running it completely dead can. When the battery is disconnected the cars security goes into theft mode. I believe on yours you have to lock all the doors from the inside lock button, then shut the door. use your keys to unlock the door, put the keys in the igntion and turn it on, dont start it. wait for the light to go out. if it doesn't then start it after a minute or two..

Try checking all connections from cleaning the battery cables to the main wire on the starter. While working at the starter disconnect the battery ground to avoid sparks.

Have you checked the door seal? There is a button on it that turns off the light. Your button might be stuck or broken. The simplest solution is to pop the cover of the dome light and just take the bulb out. True, you won't have lights, but it won't drain your battery either.

Sometimes the dome lite is turned on manually by rotating the headlamp switch knob, try turning it off with the knob. Best time to check for light left on, is in the dark.
Hopefully pulling the dome lite fuse will stop the battery drain.
