SOURCE: check engine light - 240 enfgine running rich

It could be a number of things but must be diagnosed via computer code check. If you are unable to do so yourself, find a reputable Volvo mechanic. It could be the air mass meter, a bad O2 sensor or something related. Mine turned out not to be the air meter but a bad ground wire going to it. Didn't find out until $400.00 later.

SOURCE: engine cuts off

If it cuts out after driving a while, one or both fuel pumps are a common culprit. After they warm up, they have a tendency to "fail" for a short while. When they cool back down, they work again. If you don't have any problems caused by lack of fuel while the car is still running, i'd suggest replacing the in-tank pump. If your car lacks power while it's running, your problem is most likely the secondary fuel pump, which provides the fuel system with the higher pressurse required for proper high speed operations. Also, do your fuel filter at the same time, to prevent other problems.

It is most likely that you have a hole in your vacuum hoses (check your flame trap too) or your 02 sensor is bad. i would check both. good luck:)

WOULD NOT CRANK CHANGED STARTER NOW CRANKS BUT WILL NOT RUN

Something intermittent is wrong with your fuel delivery system - fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, check valve.. If it always starts when you use starting fluid that eliminates spark/igniter issues. Check all electrical connections in fuel delivery components.

If the ecm is touchy it might not be sending the signal for the injectors to shoot gas into cylinders.

But I think you have a bad connection somewhere along the line.
BTW, great car - have one also. But my dealer sucks.

Cranks but wont start

Likely a fuel delivery problem.

Check the filter, as it may be clogged and due for replacement. To test for fuel delivery, open your airbox and spray some starter fluid (purified ether, usually) down into the throttle body while someone else cranks the engine. If it fires up and runs for a few seconds but won't run without spraying the starter fluid, then you know you've got spark and compression. If that's the case, there could be any number of potential issues: throttle position sensor (not very common, but it does happen), fuel injectors clogged (common if you use low-grade fuel), fuel filter/strainer clogged (filters should be replaced every 30k miles or so, on average), fuel pump failure (you should hear a buzzing from the fuel pump when you crank the engine).

If the starter fluid doesn't help, then the problem is no spark. Check each plug/cable for fouling.

Car dies while running

You say the timing belt is intact, so I assume you have checked compression.
Have you checked base fuel pressure and are you getting spark to the plugs ?

86 ford f-150 xlt with a 302 5.0 v8 wont start until i put starter fluid into it it will start then dies right away only runs when i pump the gas then dies again i changed the spark plugs and plug wires...

If it runs when you spray starter fluid in you know the ignition system and all related systems are working. On an '86 you have an in-take electric fuel pump. You need to confirm that it runs and that it is supplying adequate fuel pressure in the system.

1992 gmc jimmy wont start unless i spray with starting fluid after it starts it will start every time untill the next day then i have to spray again ?

Fuel pump issue.--

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

My2005 f250 6.0 l diesel will crank but not start and run

Possibly a crank sensor on or around the harmonic balancer, acts as a magnet like on an old buick. When you get the truck to fire up run it until she gets hot shut it and try to restart if no start continues try spraying starter fluid on the crank sensor itself. What happens is the sensor overheats and wont register that your cranking the engine. Spraying the starting fluid on the sensor will cool it dramaticlly enough for you to restart.
