The oil pump on AMC V-8s from 67-91 are made into the timing cover. The only thing that is easily replaceable are the internal gears. It's important to make sure the end clearance between the gears and oil pump cover is correct. It should be 0.002- 0.006" (closest to 0.002" is preferred). Use Plastigauge on the ends of the gears, then bolt the cover on with the gasket. You may need a thinner or thicker gasket to adjust this clearance -- DO NOT use any type of sealant, just the gasket. Clearance between the peaks of the gears and the sidewalls of the pump cavity should be 0.0005-0.0025" (.0005" preferred). If the sidewall clearance is more than 0.0025" the timing cover must be replaced. Some deeper scratches on the sidewalls won't hurt anything. Best source for a new timing cover is www.bulltear.com. For more info see http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/wagoneer/401/timingcover.html.

How can I install an AMC 360 engine into my 1965 rambler classic with a 287 engine?

what I did was removed the 287 engine installed an AMC 360 .In order to do this you have to get an borg warner m11 bell housing from 67 to 71 .amc used borg warner transmissions until than. So you put the m11 bell housing on to the m8 transmission and get the motor mount for the AMC 360 engine

I don't know how close this engine is to the Aurora engine, but I did mine. It did take a special tool, but I was able to rent it for free from Autozone. Overall, pretty easy to replace.

Have a 1979 cj7 cant find a flywheel with right bolt pattern the motor is a amc 360 but a flywheel from a 360 has a differnt bolt pattern than mine any help please

are you sure you have an amc 360 and not a 304 and also are you sure the flywheel came from an amc 360 and not a chevy 350? A 350 will bolt directly in place of the 360. You might also try a 350 flywheel.

1987 Subaru GL Oil Pump location

Assuming the car has the 1.8 engine, the oil pump is on the front of the motor, behind the timing belt covers. The belts have to come off to change the oil pump. If you are a novice, this is a difficult task. If you usually fix your own stuff, then it is not so bad. Just be sure to replace both belts while you are at it, and be sure to get them set right. If it is the 1.8, one belt drives one cam, and the other drives the other cam, the oil pump, the distributor, and maybe also the water pump....It's been 10 years since I had mine. Good luck
