there maybe a problem caused when you replaced the pump. you may have to pull the pump out and make sure the gage float travels its full range and is not getting caught on something when you changed the pump.
I dont know why car shuts off when the tank is 1/4 full. Try replacing fuel filter first then maybe fuel pump. I think you probably have a stuck fuel sending unit. Here is a video of the location of the fuel sending unit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSzE4aacS4g Here is a video of how to replace fuel pump. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5xC957OXSs Also, if you figuire out why car shuts down at 1/4 tank please post your findings.
If it a diesel then you must be aware that when changing a filter and pump they must be full of fuel, otherwise it won't **** the fuel into the engine.
is the vehicle getting fuel now that you changed the pump?? can you hear the pump running?? if you can hear it and not gettting fuel, change the inline fuel filter, and if you cant hear the pump run check your fuel pump relay...
Have you recently changed the fuel pump? Sounds like something was damaged or not connected correctly. Either the O-ring around the fuel pump is damaged, the fuel pump clamp not in/on completely, or the fill or vent tube not completely on. If fuel pump not recently changed, there is a leak in one of those areas or even the fuel line.
did you recently change the fuel pump? If so you needed to change the wire harness thats attached to the fuel pump, then if not, your floater need to be replaced inside your fuel tank.
How do I know? from experience.
